I recently DIY servicing my S4 changed EO and Oil Filter. I used CASTROL EDGE SPORT 10W60. Its Fully Syntetic but its meant for Car.. It seems to have more positive responsed on the gear change. Easier change to Neutral.

IS IT OK TO USE EO MEANT FOR CAR...?? Need all S4 SIFU's comment.

TQ

limsn how much u buy the engine oil for?

Bought it in M'sia for RM145 (Sg$62) 4lts. Its ok .. I've tried it and the gear change is noticeably responsive. Felt the difference from my previous semi syn EO.

I don't think 60W is recommended for new engine cos its a bit thick.. I'll keep u all updated on my fuel consumption using this heavier oil.

You are right . 60W is too thick.. after 350km I changed the oil to Motul SynOil. Feel like lack of power and slight backfires.. Castrol helpline also said not suitable due to oil contain Friction Modifier, magnesium etc.. than is not suitable for wet clutch..

SO GUYS, DON'T TRY USING EO MEANT FOR CAR, OK

Hiya, as we all know 3.2 litres of EO is req for an oil change with filter.

I assume that, that extra 200ml resides within the filter.

So would i be right to say that on the next oil change it would be wise to use the same brand of EO or would it not really matter switching to some other brand.

What would your normal practice be?

yes yes, as cautioned by the threadstarter himself.

But my question isnt related to using Car EO.

its a general question assuming we use EOs meant for bikes.

Didnt wanna start a new thread for my question, hence piggybacked this one while reading it.

200ml of high quality, but dirty and used oil in the oil filter will have little influence over the 3 litres of new oil. I have switched from semi to fully-syn oil while using the same filter.
