4) Since TS applied for malaysia driving from the rental company, is very common what strikes is overheating, can be water or oil.

5) TS mentioned water splash out from radiator, which might be caused by jammed pipings of the radiator which caused obstructed flow of coolant within the radiator.

6) Reciepts are very impt in such case if come to civil suit to depend how much does each parties liability bears.

7) Reporting to CASE is just for them to follow up whether the company did/ didn't violate the business laws and conducting mystery checks on them.

WHY DUN YOU TRY CALLING " HOH LAW" instead of asking here? i think thats a faster way to solve your woes. Lawyers have a standard to charge, cannot u say happy happy if win give u all, lose liao all free.

1)Profit from where, claim against what thing from your side?

 

2)FYI lawyers have rules to obey on charging, your so called "lawyers keeps all" is against the law.

 

 

Now is words against words between you and the company with most evidence on their hands. But is also a 50-50 chance whether the company wants to take you on civil case depending on their repair cost vs legal cost.

 

Why worry, let them send the letter first then u slowly do all these like finding lawyer, ask for advise. If not just take it easy let life goes on.

I do rent cars occasionally, and when i do, i expect the car to be properly maintained, and in excellent road condition which also means four good tyres. The car should be cleaned and tidied, and sufficiently fueled. There should be a car manual for easy reference, and a quick instructions and 24hrs contact in the event of an emergency.

 

All these should come standard in any reputable car rental companies. Anything less, you have been short changed.

If a car is properly maintained, it should not overheat.

 

Cars only measured temperature of water and not oil. Since water is the primary cooling system, there is not point measuring temperature of oil since it has a much higher boiling point than water.

 

 

5) TS mentioned water splash out from radiator, which might be caused by jammed pipings of the radiator which caused obstructed flow of coolant within the radiator. .

 

when a car has been run for a period of time, it is natural for hot water to be splashing out from the radiator once the cap is opened because the water in the radiator is boiling and pressurized.

 

The cause of overheating can be caused by defective radiator fan, defective water pump, clogged up radiator, leaking radiator....to many to mentioned here.

 

TS has made a few fundamental and dangerous mistakes.

 

Mistake 1 - the radiator cap should never be opened when the engine is hot as the splashes from the hot water could cause scalding. However it is absolutely necessary, use a big piece of cloth to cover the cap, and open abit at a time to allow the hot gas to escape first.

 

Mistake 2 - Never pour water into a over-heated radiator or over the engine because it will cause thermal shock to the internals of the engine.

 

The car protection system cuts the engine once it has reached the temperature limit so as to prevent any further damage to the engine. Once the engine has cooled down naturally, the car should be able to re-start. At this point, there is no damage done to the engine. However as this was in Malaysia, TS was probably anxious to get going, and splashing water on the hot engine, to trick the sensor, and continued driving, that would have caused irreversible damages to the engine.

well yes maybe it's a mistake BUT i was told to do so .... i won't any how touch the car as it's not mine to begin with ... i call juz car trade pte ltd , they told me pour in water.... at that time , i dun even know what the red engine led indicator stands for .... i call the company to enquire and that where they told me what to do .. pour in water ....
