Hi all, mi spec III is close to one yr soon. i intent to perform a major servicing come next EO change that includes:

- EO and oil filter change

- Air filter

- flush coolant

- brake pads

The qns is: Should i wash and tune mi carb duing the servicing or do u all think i should adopt the 'if it ain't broken, dun change it' policy coz mi carb is working fine??

Pls advice, thanks.

Pardon for my saying, but I think you are money too much. Depending on your mileage, an EO and filter change should be sufficient. Brake pads can be monitored from their marking grooves. Coolant can last for at least 2 years or 40,000 km. Air filter can last for 20,000 km under local conditions. Bad (recession) times are coming, save your money for a rainy day.

the above mentioned are reasonable items for annual servicing. Don't forget a new set of spark plugs.

If there is presently nothing wrong with your idling rpm and pick up speed, it's better not to meddle with your carburettor. If you are unlucky and got to a lousy (inexperienced) mechanic, or a workshop which doesn't have the proper equipment (eg: vacuum gauge, etc), it may even mess up your present setting and cause sluggishness or even high fuel consumption thereafter.

Anyway, at the end of the day, the money is still yours. You decide for yourself. We can only give you so much advice.

Hi all,i need advise..bought s4 spec2 two month ago and recently the temp is always high. Went to check with mech and he change a new heat sensor on my radiator...bt it seems that the problem still remain the same. The temp even over heat when i ride from Tampines to Changi...thats ard 5-10km away. The overheat light always activate. I've drained the old coolent and had put in new ones bt its still the same and theres no leaking on my radiator...if this goes on, it seems that i my bike can't travel far! Help, anyone?

Likely possibility: faulty water pump and/or seized coolant thermostat. Go and have these 2 parts checked.

:dot: hi i'm a newbie,just asking how offen do we change EO,spark-plug,air-filter , oil-filter,collent???

generally

EO every 5000km for fully sync

Spark plug depend. i changed mine every 20,000km else iridium every 50,0000km

air filter using stock abt 30,000 depending on road condition else K&N filter wash them when u take out ur tank or etc. depend on ur need. a clear filter will ensure a good "breathing" of ur bike.

Oil filter, every 2 EO change maybe 10,000km

coolant. if i am not wrong is 40,000km but i does my own diy. 20,000km or etc. depends on myself once i sense nt cooling enuff i change.

hmm

i would suggest u go for another mechanic opinion.

it could be the wrong temp sensor.

also the bleeding of the radiator could be nt effective thus alot of air pocket in the radiator.

also u may wan to change to a better grade coolant. using maxima coolaide now.

EO, Oil filter shld be change every time the mileage is reached, nt once a yr.

air filter during plug change u can have a look to see how dirty it is. else every 40,000km

coolant flush is good to do it once a yr.

brake pad if u are not a "dangerous" rider who does late braking. stock pad are good. they are HH too equivalent to EBC HH unless u are changing to that keep it until it is due to change.

carb as other advise. if the mech is nt so good, dun bother servicing. stock setting is good enuff for most rider.

I guess Malaysia is just a bit weird at times.. Recently my friend drove into JB.. He is using a legalised HKS pipe and was stop by one of the traffic police there.. The TP asked about his pipe and my friend showed the certificate that indicate it is legal and approved..

The TP then asked, "Where you get the pipe from?"

My friend answered, "Its from Singapore"

The TP arrogantly says, "This is Malaysia!"

My friend end up paying his last $100 SGD to him.. Shows a lot about the standards of their TP.. Only wan money to satisfy their greed.. Tsk Tsk

Some yrs back also got into this problem with KL TP.

Driving to Ipoh and exhaust came off half way but can't fine the screw, so support it by using wire as temp measure and all the way 70kph trying to get into KL and repair it.

Just before enter to KL got stop by TP having ops in the expressway, showing us a laser gun indicate we are going at 130kph and demand to pay fine.

Trying hard to explain to them our situation of the car and not possible to go beyond 100kph, that pig just keep showing us a book showing how much others had pay for the offends and when know we not going to pay up he wanted to arrest us bring us back to station and sent us to courts the next day.

LL we say we will pay cause not sure how they going to robert us when in courts. We took out RM100 and this pig got the cheeks to say they got many pples and RM300 is just nice... ends up we gave him RM100 plus S$100 before he let us go. Knn

Slow will get you to your destination always.

Dont forget also, when was the last time you service(change eo,wash filter, tune carbs, change sparkplug). I did try drag with my classmate KR150,initial start he move off first but when my rpm hits above 6K...BYE BYE......heheheh!!

SP engine is 2 stroke(twice the power stroke compared to our 1 power stroke in 2 revolution) so more power lah plus the bike is lighter also. But we got top end power.. :)
