Hi all..just rolled out a GSR 400.

Hope you guys can advice me on some of the problems i had encounter.

Is the back brake very weak kind?

Alway when my bike is at neutral gear, the 'N" green light doesnt light up.

isit the sensor spoilt? or maybe the clutch plate has wore out?

Thk

I think it should melt as the OEM is white.

As for the brake is really very weak. Maybe is like that, just we are not use to it.

Anyone can advise on the ''N'' light problem? Cause if the 'N'' light doesnt light up, I have to leave up the side stand then i can start my bike. it still show at gear 1 or 2 but it aready in netural.

Only after many try kicking up n down sometime then the "N'' will light up.

Hi guys,

Someone posted recently on another thread that the top speed for the GSR400 is about 166km/h (stock bike with BMC filter). Is that right?

Thanks

Bro , Raymond here I'm riding GSR 400 currently using HID 6K it doesnt melt like what you say. .unless your headlight is not stock one. .

There are disadvantages to white light. I feel when riding in stormy weather, the lights are no help at all. From there on, its only yellow lights for me. Maybe that is the reason y engineers comes up with yellow lights in the first place.

As for melted sockets, you might be using those cheap bulbs that have a higher wattage ratings(90w/110w). Those are known to melt the sockets/circuits. Change the socket the ceramic type might help you there. An alternative is only to go for standard 55w/60w bulb ratings + trusted brands.

No offence, One word about HID.....Damn irritating and glaring hahahhaa. I feel that the original headlamp cover did not do a good job with pushing out the HID lights....The HID lights seems to be trapped in the headlamp and juz give a very high intensive glow. In one sentence, the original headlamp not meant for HID.

For those that are thinking or already change to HID, please dip you headlamp lower. Please hor.....I am begging....

Dat one confirm 600cc la.....on a 400cc pushing beyond the limits of 200km/h ++ is bad for engine...already red line. Ohh ya dun forget you good fren called speedo error. One way is to use GPS to gauge the speed. If 166km/h its either the rider no confidence or the bike is poorly maintained or the bike is tuned with non OEM parts or the rider is super duper heavy (heheheh).

LOL... i was just thinking if really can do 220+ then I'll go book one right now even before getting my 2A :)

Anyway, some of my kaki are riding super fours and they do 180km/h quite comfortably (before redline). Can the GSR400 keep up? I understand of course that we're all referring to indicated(meter) speeds here.

cheers

U SURE NOT????? HAHAHHA!

I think that one GSR 600 la. 400cc where can go that fast! I remember mine when everything was stock except for my K&N air filter, the max i pushed was 190km/h on a slight downslope on the NSH returning home from KL.

Now even with my LV pipe, my max speed like no difference, only feels more torque-ier at the low and mid RPMs.

I think for 400cc inline-4 street bikes, ~200km/h is as far as it can go, want something faster, get a bigger bike!

HEHE!

Thanks, Raymond & Razi

Can no prob, i ride with my kakis who are riding super 4s to KL before. No problems catching up. Heck, back then installed Hepco & Becker 40L side boxes fully laden with my stuff and my kaki's stuff (basically, i was a packmule) and i could still keep up playing catching with them!

But in my opinion, 180km/h is almost redlining. My kaki's and i rode between 160~170km/h.

Thanks for the re-assurance. For a few days after that 166km/h post I was looking at the super4 ads... LOL

As I haven't been doing that kind of speeds for a long time now, 160-170km/h is good enough for me. At the end of the day, i think the 2B/2A thing before full class 2 is a good thing...

For stock sprockets 14T/47T, the speedo error is 7% right? Is it +/- 7%? If speedo shows 80km/h, so real speed is it 74.4km/h or 85.6km/h?

It cannot be determined like that. Get a dedicated GPS device to measure the speed. DEDICATED, handphone GPS not that accurate as it cannot lock to many satellites. Travelling at a constant 100km/h and you can get your speed. Even bike is different.

To be precise, the Digital Speedo got no error. Its the speedo probe that causes it. The sensor is placed near the engine, and the speed is not measured at the tires.

Every vehicle got this issue. Only that the bigger the CC the lesser the speedo error. That is why there is such item below

As for me....Engine condition is the most important. Cosmetic can be done up later on. Bring someone that knows the bike.
