Yep, the regulator/rectifier. The black thingy.

Was your battery factory primed? Or did they prime it for you? This means they gotta put some bottles on top of the battery (The bottles contain Sulphuric acid which is needed for the battery to work) and wait for awhile before installing, if not, it should be factory primed. This could be a problem for older batteries which may not be as good as fresh ones.

Anyway, monitor your voltage. As long your voltage is holding at 13.5v to 14.5v. There's no need to worry. Give a few days.

KS Motors is right smack opposite of Regina. Take note of the Suzuki sign.

Here's the map location

1. KS Motors

I think mine is the factory primed.. Thanx anyway, i will juz monitor my batt voltage in a few days.. I juz feared if my regulator is faulty n i continue using it, it might affect my magnetic coil.. Changing magnetic coil is very expensive..

Bro how much is the batt change? my battery seems to be constant at 13.8, sometimes go up abit 14, but when idling sometimes drop to 13.2 does it mean regulator spoil or my batt spoil?

I juz change my batt yuasa brand for $75 @ UM..

Do you have a volt meter installed on your bike?

If you have a volt meter... it is easier to tell if your rectifier is "damaged"... I used to experienced voltage drop from a constant range of 13.7-13.9 to 12.xx. It usually happens after riding for a certain distance and when your engine is hot, if you stop revving your engine(come to a stop during traffice light)... if you notice your voltage drop -1.x then it could be rectifier problem.

Hmm... How do I know whether I need a change in battery and rectify? It's a five year bike, and I don't think the previous owners have changed the battery before...

What is our battery ampere rating as well?

Better change the battery. Usually after 3 years, the battery is not up to its maximum performance. Also, think your Valve Clearance is due.

Yuasa YTX9-BS is 8Ah. Better to install a voltmeter too.

Btw where do u guys go for bike servicing n buying bike accessories?

Hmm, for basic maintenance, I would do it myself. Sometimes I would go down to Planet Motors to lend some of Chong's tools to do DIY, especially for oil change.

Parts can be obtain from KS motors, Ah boy and some other cheaper shops. Just yesterday, I got 4 x NGK CR8EIX (Iridium Spark Plugs) for $44 from MX trading. Also bought 4 bottles of Amsoil 10w40 (AMO) for $14.50 per quart (Online and free delivery to desired location for 8 bottles and above) and Suzuki OEM Oil Filter from KS Motors.

Major ones, either Planet or Unique.

Any place to recommend for valve clearence? By the way, valve clearence is for what?

Most bike shop will do valve clearance. Best is to go to those that has good reputation. Look at the third link below for shops recommendations and the rough cost of valve clearance.

Take a little time to read the below articles and you will understand why we need to do valve clearance. :)

Don't need to go to workshop. Just the shop will do.

I remember seeing someone posting the cost... after searching this thread, here is the post:

I think different bike will cost differently for valve clearance.
