anyone going down to KKFC tonite???

for? no1 plan anything recently... sianz...........

2 days not ard, so many ppl thinking of changing sprocket n tyres ah... n can c quite alot of riders wan a copy of the GSR servicing manual n oso the anniversary photos.

is it possible to consolidate all n distribute one time periodically?

ya... maybe u start :p

Change chain only cannot? Must change the spocket also? U faster fix up the scottoiler after changing :cheeky: Dun consider too long

can. provided ur sprocket is in very good condition which is unlikely. change both is ideal.

if change chain only, then the fitting wif the sprockets is bit out coz chain is new n sprockets worn bit already. wouldnt that affect it negatively in any way?

for bigger bikes, sprocket wear n tear is not as significant as the small bikes like kups. n with normal riding without fast pickup or high speed cruising, the chain n sprocket wear is not that great compared to those who played pickup n run at high speed.

but i wun deny the fact that there IS wear n tear on the sprocket n chain. n to reuse the sprocket, its good that u inspect it b4 deciding to use it again. both front n back cos for GSR, sprocket is hard to get for now.

Wanna some thing durable, reliable and gd to kup corner

hmmm.... its either durable, not so good in kup corner or good to kup corner, not so durable. hard to have the best of both worlds. :D

Bro, confirm the sprocket size for GSR400 is 15/47? The chain is 520 rite?

Someone recommend i use 525. reason: its thicker n therefore more lasting.

Any negative repercussions?

hmmm..... 525 is the biggest chain in the market rite? follow by 520? with that, u need a bigger sprocket. A-style had changed to a 525 chain n sprocket if i'm not wrong. not forgetting that 525 chain n sprocket is alot more heavier than the 520 ones.

but personally i dun think thicker means more lasting. mayb the chain pin is more durable but the rollers? the sprocket surface that is in contact? dun they have the same wear rate since the material used is the same?

i'm 80% sure but since you're gonna change, might as well confirm when the

mech opens up the front, you can count the rear teeth easily even if you can't

see the markings.

the stock chain is 520 type.

in any case, the secret to durable chains are O & X rings; following that,

regular lubrication and proper tensioning.

hmmm..... 525 is the biggest chain in the market rite? follow by 520? with that, u need a bigger sprocket. A-style had changed to a 525 chain n sprocket if i'm not wrong. not forgetting that 525 chain n sprocket is alot more heavier than the 520 ones.

the '5' refers to the distance between pins (5/8 inches).

the numbers behind refer to the width of the chain. e.g.:

'20' - 2/8 inches

'25' - 2.5/8 inches

a thicker width would imply that the same force (power) is transmitted

through a wider area, meaning less wear, better transmission.

downside is the the added weight.

mods done:

powerplant device, fuel injector venturis,

underseat cylindrical air filter, bassy stock cans,

super-sensitive in-built gyroscope, inertia-based accelerometer,

streamlined panniers (zero drag),

taped up wires, exposed grounding wires,

TBC mounted, custom tire pressures.

litre bikes watch out! :gun:

:thumb: a very valuable piece of information. clearly says wat is causing the wear on the surface of the chain rollers n sprocket.

just add one more. y the chain gets longer after using a period of time? the chain heat up after riding for a few minutes. with heat n stress introduced, the pin is weaken. all the pin have different heat n stress introduced hence the wear of the pin throughout the chain is inconsistent. that will answer y tightening of chain, some part is alright n some not alright.

so in short, changing of chain is due to the lengthening of the chain. n sprocket is due to the sandpaper effect on the surfaces of the chain rollers n sprocket.
