meanwhile, do read up on those UK bike magazines...

sometimes, they do teach u how to take corners...

lean in/out/with technique...

n where to position ur bike when going into bends...

how fast to go etc etc...

but i remb this most impt line...

GO IN AT YOUR MOST COMFORTABLE SPEED... EVEN THOU IT MAY BE SLOW, BUT AT LEAST YOU KNOW THAT IT IS SAFE AND YOU CAN HANDLE YOUR BIKE AT THAT SPEED... AND COME OUT OF THAT BEND/CORNER SAFELY...

Some will say corners seperate between a man and a boy

But corners also seperate between dead and alive when S H I T happen :(

So I don't play any corner, young time corner with bicycle buang until scare liao. :giddy: Especially when out of sudden u don't know why u are on the floor and pain all over the body

think i saw alan_lim this afternoon at TPE, waved to him :)

about cornering, unless you're really familiar with the road and the condition is in tip top condition, then go ahead.

but if you die-die want to try cornering, take about 4 hours of your time, your passport, RM35, full face helmet, armoured gloves, (at least) touring jacket with armour, (at least) jeans and boots. head down to pasir gudang.

rien d'autre que le max.

I would like to share what happened when i did not handle my bike properly while i was kup-ping corner...

i was going to back home from work on one fine morning and was heading to CTE near the old sub court at chinatown there... ended up skidded my bike and my left side of my bike was a goner... lucky i have sliders on my bike and then i notice there was small stones on the road leading to CTE...and looking at my bike now... no motivation....

have to replace my rear cowling, my exhaust cover was dangling... clutch was damage.. gear paddle was torn into 2.... rear rims have to be wielded and put in some weights to balance the back part...

total damage... $1012.00... damm heart pain look at her now...

sigh... :(

a lesson learnt and a big hole burn in the pocket...

So sorry to hear what happen to you... But as what the other said, its ur health is more important...

Just like what happen to me, although my repair cost can kill me but i still feel grateful that i'm still alive although theres modification done in my body :faint:

Anyway before i involved in an accident i'm always very confident in cornering when the whether was hot and the road was clear... I must say that this bike can really take a corner, is just the matter of who is the rider and hows the condition of the road...

But of cause after becoming a bionic man, i'm more careful and corner like the 1st time i got my 2b bike...:cheeky:

k, once and for all.

reserve signal info:

1st signal

blinking fuel pump icon, solid bar

3.5l left in tank

2nd signal

blinking fuel pump icon, blinking bar

2l left in tank

but it's exactly 3.5l or 2l lah, so +/- a bit because of the nature of the tank,

fuel pump, etc. in any case, your next destination better be a petrol kiosk

when you see these things.

with regards to taking corners; it's always slow in, fast out.

but of course, get to know the corner 1st.

the turning radius, angles, camber etc, and look out for potential blindspots,

danger points etc. but seriously, if you wanna corner, there's always johor

circuit and sepang.

mods done:

powerplant device, fuel injector venturis,

underseat cylindrical air filter, bassy stock cans,

super-sensitive in-built gyroscope, inertia-based accelerometer,

streamlined panniers (zero drag),

taped up wires, exposed grounding wires,

TBC mounted, custom tire pressures.

litre bikes watch out! :gun:

regarding the cornering, i was not travelling at a very fast speed... was travelling at 50 - 60 km/h.. i think i was not travelling at a fast speed... but i tot wrong...

now, i am think i am the only GSR rider with red tank and silver cowling... tried to get a red one from universal motors but unable to get the colour as they do not have it... tried to find but not successful so have to settle for the silver one eventually...

Hi guys wanna share something with you guys.

My average speed is 100km/h. When refueling I get 13 liters for 280km. This is after I put in Broquet. Anyway there is significant mileage improvement, but sadden that it can't go higher than that. Unless I travel at an average speed of 80km which I was able to get 300+km for 13 liters.

As for hitting reserve, you need not worry, once the blinking starts, you have about 40km to play with. In Singapore, petrol stations are plenty so can topup anywhere. To be on the safe side, treat as though you have 20km to go once the 2nd light starts blinking.

Anyway I am always in the project of trying to improve my mileage and try not to degrade the performance of the bike.

Another question, anyone try to run their GSR until empty? Any implication? Coz I read somewhere they can if EFI do not try to empty the petrol tank.

maybe you not going fast enuf thats y fall? anyway i think we all here are glad that you're safe. One positive way to look at it is ur bike now unique. If we see you on the road, sure noe its Sliderz. So look out for other gsr waving at u:cheeky:

I also almost buang one time b4 gg into the highway from Sengkang. Tyre still new, never corner, going slow, but the there is this gap on bridges, esp if you from compass pt TPE entrance, made of metal. My rear tyre skid abit wen turning. I hate that place man.:giddy:

ohya..another thing. Watch out for a red toyota, i din see the plate number, but got triangle plate. He parks at blk 177D Rivervale Drive. He has his front logo removed. Mod his bumper alittle.

Anw, this fella came damn close to banging me down. He zig-zag his way thru traffic, I saw him from my side mirror. Then from the right most lane he just cut into my lane into the carpark while dramatically slowing down in front of me. Lucky our gsr got good brakes sia. If not i sure slam into his left door.

From what i've learnt in engineering, a hollow pipe is stiffer than a solid pipe. Its more difficult to bend. Plus save material hence lighter. So i don't think its a bad news that the crashbar is hollow.:thumb:

The chrome crash bar is a replica. Understand it is not manufactured by GIVI. So caveat emptor!!! buyers beware..

eh...

if u guys toking abt e same thing...

so is e crashbar good or bad???

i think e design is good, such that it doesnt block e Oil Filter...

but if its not strong enough, den it defeat e purposes liao ma..

The hollow crashbar definitely good. Just gotta know how much load it can take before collapsing. If its not some chiong parts but made from a reputable company, like Givi, then should be ok.

good as in it can withstand bending forces better than a solid bar. Solid bar will bend easier. So its good in a sense that if u fall, chances are ur hollow bar can withstand the impact and its less likely to bend under the pressure hence protecting ur engine. If u get a solid bar, and it bends very easier, surely when u fall the bar wont be able to protect ur engine.

As for the replica, that one i dono sia. :p if scared don get it suppose.

my first week with GSR400 ended today, i have clocked 254 km...

during this first week (and the next few) i find it very challenging to keep rpm below 5k and speed below 80... o_O

i also noticed that when riding bigger bike others tend to expect you to run faster; so many vehicle tailed so near me, especially skoda taxi driver...:( i dun have this feeling with my humble bajaj... u guys got similar feeling?

i oso wore fullface helmet, which though comfortable and stylo, it has a wide blind spot compared to normal helmet.. got to turn my head more to check blind spot... anybody installing additional wide angle mirror to expend the angle of rear view?

talking about fuel consumption, in the end i think may be it is worth while to pump octane 98 petrol rather than 95... though more expensive, the milage and performance gain is better than 95 and in the end if we divide milage to $, it may be worth it... any bro wanne comment?

Furthest I've ever stretched my fuel consumption was ard 252.5km. was riding at an average of 130km/h. that time i was lucky cos just as i exited at bedok ECP going away from Changi Airport, there was a SPC at siglap. Checked my tank got about 3 litres left surprisingly. I was expecting it to be close to 16 litres when i was fuelling up but i only topped up till 13plus litres.

and yeah i feel to run empty on FI machines might not be advisable - just my 2 cents

252km is very good figure considering your speed...:thumb: :thumb:

can advise what petrol grade you use? wat average rpm you maintain throughout your rides?

btw, is there any mod on your bike like brouquet, grounding wire, etc....

pls share le...:) :)

I pump only 92 or 95, cheaper and good enough for me, don't feel any different.

a lot of ppl advised against 92 as the engine will be rough and start knocking after prolong usage, esp if you are travelling high speed or rev a lot... the specs in the booklet mentioned minimum grade 95... may not be advisable to use 92...
