Hi guys

Was wondering anyone of you have done a Dynojet Run in? Going to Loois Motor sometime next week to get a GSR and was wondering if it is worth it to put it to a Dynojet. How much will it cost anyone know? Hope to see u all soon with my GSR.

BTW how do you guys do your running in? Heard there are hard and soft run in. Which one is better and more suitable for the Gsr?

Hi bro actually GSR600 have more exhaust systems available. Anyway, some good news for GSR400. Spoke to Mr Fauzi at Motoworld on Firday. He said in the process of getting the street legal WR'S exhausts from Japan. In Japan, estimate S$ is around $1k to $1.2k for the pipes only. I will keep bugging them every month until they bring them in hahaha.

I'd rather do up mine with the Street Legal pipes, with after market air filters BMC or PiperX, and install PCIII. Then tune it. Should cost much less than $2K. So far have not seen full systems on GSR400 model. If have I guess would have cost a bomb with 3 parts (2 x exhaust, mid pipe and headers) hahahha.

so, wat did u ganna poison this time round? any lobangs for rear shocks?

Hi,

belly pan of S4 can get from LAB. rim sticker, need to paste at least 2 times then u'll know how to paste already. 1st time always cannot one.

dyno run in? u got the money to spend, u can go ahead with it. but do take note that dyno run in is a hard run in. as for run in, hard or soft, u decide. most do soft but there r a handful who did hard.

wat ever the method is, change ur eo n filter frequently. n use only mineral oil.

Let me break this down a bit....

Hi,

- change exhaust system. currently there are 3 company in the market producing underseat exhaust for gsr4 but the cert is only valid for gsr6. it can be installed on gsr4 but will not pass lta inspection. (Cost:$1500+ depends on brand.)

As suggested by a forumer here, there are 2 brands in Japan selling street-legal 400cc cans for GSR.

Should be able to pass inspection.

- remove the cylindrical air filter which is located under the seat. the filter really reduce cold air intake and therefore block the power.. (labor cost only)

Simi "cylindrical air filter"? There is only the standard air filter, which is flat BTW.

http://store.58cycle.com/photos/bmc%20gsr6%2006%20street-1.jpg

And its not under the seat. Its under the tank in the airbox.

Removing your filter will theoretically increase airflow, allowing a leaner F/A ratio but you will risk everything from small pebbles to smoke to dust to even things like flies and other things to FOD (foreign object damage) your engine.

Kinda risky proposition for a little increase in horsepower.

Oh, if some schmuck tells you that MotoGP / SBK / AMA / some racing series team does this, tell him these teams strip and overhauls the bike engines weekly. Unless they are willing to do same for free for your bike, I would advise you to avoid such shops.

If the person is talking about velocity stacks, which are cylindrical, then yes. But should not just take them out. Best to replace with proper billet velocity stacks.

http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v448/jackson_ljj/P1260026.jpg

Theoretically such bellmouth velocity stacks helps increase air speed into the combustion chamber, this increasing air pressure, making a leaner combustion.

But the HP increase is not so significant.

- install power plant device to improve hp at lower torque (Cost: $200+ complete with installation and tuning)

What power plant device? Nuclear reactor?

If its a Power Commander device, then fine. Its a pretty good investment, backed by proper tuning, to get more from your bike.

But a brand new PCIII plus tuning will cost about $600.

Other devices like current stimulators or stabilizers, forget about it.

Don't waste your cash on it.

- grounding wire for engine break reduction (Cost: $100+ depends on brand)

Erm, I'm not gonna even go into there.

I'll keep it simple: I would not rely on grounding wire to increase my bike's power. Improve electrical flow throughout the various device, maybe.

Even if you do subscribe to that theory that it does increase performance, a good set of grounding wire plus crimps and such will not set you back by more than $20. And the wires are much thicker and as good quality.

So, before doing anything to your bike for the supposed sake of performance, please do research and find out more.

Might avoid a lot of disappointment as some Gisser riders here found out later....

Hi,

yesterday i happened to speak to a mechanic who has done upgrade for GSR4.. his workshop at bkt merah(cant remember the name, but it has an Acrapovic logo displayed outside his bike tuning bay)..his suggestion on increasing power of gsr4:

- change exhaust system. currently there are 3 company in the market producing underseat exhaust for gsr4 but the cert is only valid for gsr6. it can be installed on gsr4 but will not pass lta inspection. (Cost:$1500+ depends on brand.)

- remove the cylindrical air filter which is located under the seat. the filter really reduce cold air intake and therefore block the power.. (labor cost only)

- grounding wire for engine break reduction (Cost: $100+ depends on brand)

honestly bro, i would stay away from this type of shops.

1st, he's recommending you exhaust systems which are not designed for the 400. the exhaust flow is different. yup, you get the bassy sound but exhaust back pressure will be compromised. worst of all, theres no LTA cert for you to carry around. the bike shop is not going to care if you're going to get caught. he'll probably be smiling when he sells the exhaust and smile again when you come back to him for labour to fix back the original exhuast.

remove the cylindrical air filter which is located under the seat. it's obvious he don't know what he's dealing with. don't believe me? go ahead and rip open your seat. if you can find a cylindrical air filter under your seat, i'll ride my bike into the sea at Sembawang road end. theres only one air filter, which is underneath your tank. the only bike (that i know of) which has a cylindrical air filter under the seat is the spec III which i sometimes swapped with my sub-rider.

the power plant device, well. i don't know what device is that. all i know is the magic black box, aka Power commander III; which cost $600++ btw.

and grounding, $100+ is a total rip off!!

trust me, stay away from this shop. its really obvious that he don't know GSR (cylindrical air filter. sheesh) and he's only out to sharpen his chopping knife. seriously if you're power crazy, just go a BMC air filter and Power commander III with tuning. with these 2 items, you'll feel alot of difference already.
