Got my vespa back. spend about $170++ including a service.

Havent been riding it for 3 weeks, really missed it:) After riding the big and heavy army yamaha bike for 1 week, coming back to vespa really feel its small, light and slow..haha.

auntie and uncle said india coil not so reliable, got someone changed to india coil and the next day coil spoilt again. Hope I wont be so unlucky... already had my vespa towed twice in less than 4 month... 1st for the clutch cable and then for coil...

during the wkshop i'll guide on how to change clutch cable if u hav one ... if u dun have a spare i'll teach a way to at least bring u home or wkshop... then save on towing fee mah

If you want an auto Vespa, best to ask in the other vespa thread... We're traditionalists over here....

haha sharpey, that's direct enough.

ilovebikes>> yes, there are GT's around...not as fuel efficient as LX, if you really want to compare. Maintenance-wise, not exactly sure how much it will be..but you need to change belt every 10,000km (as adviced).

and yes... do direct your question over at the other vespa thread (SBF VespaNet Cafe 2007 GT/LX/PX/ET), we're oldies

hello hello.....wow, this thread is getting slower by the day.....

anyways, how many cans of spray paint do i need to properly coat the exhaust??and can high temp paint be gotten from mustafa centre?

-= Unsure of what to get=-

Posted

buy the paint from a shop like TA... there are two kinds (cheap bbq paint) and expensice PJC coating paint.... Get the expensive one like 12 bucks I think.... You only need 1 can anyway...

Don't buy the cheap bbq paint as it flakes off pretty quick (has a lower max temp than the proper PJC stuff which is actually designed for exhausts)

what i meant by too tong, if u totally let the internals be empty ... advantage : good pick up , Disadvantage : too noisy, attract TP,not top end(top speed) .. ur exhaust need a certain amt of back pressure in order for it to perform

OK!!! finally done reading all 111 pages! Took me quite awhile but i was worth it. I'm now currently in the process of getting my 2B licence and trying to learn as much as i can about vespa. Now i'm at lesson 8.. hope i can pass my TP soon. :D

Thanks to sharpey, I've decided to get disc brakes. A question here, Can a sprint be fitted with disc brakes? If not, i will get a PX 200.

DUDE! Kudos to you for reading 111 pages... Impressive.

It is technically possible to fit disk brakes to a Sprint... BUT it isn't something that will be easily done in Singapore. You will need to change your front fork to one from a smallframe Vespa, like a PK50... trouble is that these were never sold in South East Asia.... So, you'd have to pay quite a bit of money to get one sorted in europe and have it shipped out...

Tell you what... once you get your license, you'll be able to test ride scooters for sale at Tong Aik (there's a PX200Disc there now if I remember right)... you be the judge of whether or not you need it...

Obviously the Sprint is the sexier of the two models, but then the PX has its 80's charm too ha ha.....

But yeah... the disc really rocks.

 very impressive indeed, reading through all 111 pages. haha anyway, how much will it cost to get a Sprint fitted with disk brakes Sharpey? i kinda remember reading some time back that it would cost about $800 or so? that's :giddy: for that price, i think i rather make do with my lousy drum brakes and just ride slower and keep a longer following distance of cos :cheeky:

well... that sort of depends on how easily you can get a new fork imported from Europe.... There's a chance that one of the german shops can help you out... but I'd be looking at a figure a little higher than that!

800 is assuming that you don't need to change the fork.

Why not try asking on the scooter bbs... I think some folks in the states will have done this mod with success.

To be honest, getting a px with a disc brake is a more sensible option (unless you really must have a 70's scooter).... You can get a second hand px200 or px150 disc for under 1500 if you do your homework.

I've read that scootrs has got the disk upgrade for the oldies fork(ard us$400?). fit on unlike from worb5 which u have to buy the whole fork. then again, with such powerful disk brake and a dodgy front suspension, not worth the investment. juz my 2 cents worth.
