um as far as I have heard the hub is the only difference between the drum forks and the disk forks... should be a straight swap...

And hey... I don't care where these shops are as long as they're in Singapore!!! Finding a place that will do small and specialised jobs for a reasonable price ain't easy here...

sharpey > thanx for the info.....

thinking of getting my scoot media blasted when the time comes for it to have a new coat of paint.

qn,is there a difference between forks of a px that has drum brakes and one that has disc brakes or is it just in the hub?

and why are the blasting services located so far away?

By sight, ie my own eyes, it seems the same. They added a bracket to accomodate the calipers n disc

this is what they apply to the surface after anti-rust coating. putty/primer. after which thy will sand down the surface once again to even up the surface b4 the actual paint work.

from what I've read on the scooterbbs archives... this kind of bondo (filler) (putty) is fine... and applying it in a thin coating everywhere is standard practice to ensure a nice smooth paint finish... with an old frame like yours there'd be plenty of ripples and bumps in the paint finish if you didn't use it...

no worries... I think they are doing a decent job for the price you are paying.. you can rest assured of that.

what's the price tag for the paint job???

and yeah, the putty thing is normal to apply a thin layer...

it only becomes wrong when it's used as a filler

whazzup will know the price... about $100 more than it would cost normally at TA... not including the expense of disassembly + reassembly.

yep yep, could't ask for more... haha...chatted wif the painter (ah hua) just nw, with the price i am paying, i could't get it at any other auto shop around.. my guess is thy might quoat a diff. price tag the next time round after experiencing doing scooter for the 1st time....

Posted

To be honest I wouldn't be surprised... but hey... as long as they're prepared to get a quality job done I don't mind paying... I'd remind ah hua that the scooterists that will send their scoots to him do so because they want "quality" and not "cheap"... That'll help him pay attention to doing your scoot well as well as help him see that there is a good deal of future business on offer... customers with time and money to pay for a high quality job.

Kudos to you for helping us all out by being the "guinea pig"

haha guniea pig!! what the..... hahaha, but i think so far so good la... we see it wof our own eyes at diff. stages, not many shops will agree to all this... besides, i uses their workshop spaces quite abit to do washing and stuff there, n thy dont mind. yup , i understand what u are tryna say, quality job. cool... but really takes time, cant rush them..

never buy a helmet without trying it on first... this means ebay is out of the question...

you need to wear a helmet for at least 15mins in order to ensure it fits properly and does not cause you pain when wearing.... you should not be able to easily remove the helemt from your head by force, forward, backward and side to side...

You need to worry a bit more about this than you are if you ask me.... I don't mean to preach (am personally REALLY safety conscious these days due to having a kid to look after)....

Buy a helmet based on fit... not looks...

Having a decent helmet and gloves will make you feel safer on your scoot and will go a long way to helping to ease the concerns of those that love you...

the motoair jacket... http://www.motoair.com is probably the best $300 you'll ever spend...

Not your fault dude... but the culture of spending as little as possible on a helmet here is ridiculous... I mean you see guys on brand new scooters and bikes with 15 year old helmets !!!(all helmets $800 or $50 need to be replaced every 5 years or so depending on usage)....

If money is an issue for you then get a GPR or some such decent but cheap helmet... I think Ewty (Edward) recently found a decent one at Ah Boy

Don't take this rant the wrong way... I do mean well... its just that you can repair your scoot after an accident rather cheaply... repairing your head... CHOY!

Is this helmet any good? The seller says that it meets the DOT standards and all.

hi there,

there are alot of DOT standard helmets out there.to put it quite simply, though not legal as it hasnt been put to test by SPRING SINGAPORE,its considerably safe for everyday ride.

the fashion helmet u shared was made for fashionable speeds.

not to show off but just sharing,i took a slight crash once while wearing this fashion helmet ,travelling fashionable speed of 50-60 ....all i can say is its quite flimsy..CAUTION:it doesnt not cover areas above ur collarbone......if youre buying this PLEASE consider the button add-on visor...

then again ,if it worked well in the 80s ...it should work well anytime.

It's easy to laugh...It's easy to hate.

Though it takes strenght to be gentle and kind.
