alright, i'm now practicing engine braking. But i rem reading somewhere that i shouldn't do engine braking on a vespa. And are PSB approved helmets safe enough?

When's the next outing? haha..

Posted

engine braking on a vespa shouldnt be done at high speeds as it'll damage the engine.i think that goes for every other bike.

and if just riding on singapore roads,it's a legal requirement to buy psb approved helmets.

but if you're going for full face or flip up helmets, anything will do...

just make sure the build quality is up to par.

the next outing as yet is undetermined.and the meetups are very infrequent.

so far,i've only met the guys and gals from the thread twice....

if you have autolube you can enginebrake... if you premix then don't... the reason being that the oil pump in autolube always supplies oil to the cylinder (even with throttle closed) whereas in a premix system, with throttle closed only very minimal oil is fed to the engine which = heat seize at high speeds...

psb approved means not dangerously unsafe... it isn't a mark of good quality... just one of acceptable quality.

i think mine is a premix. I have to pour 2T in the same tank as the petrol. That's premix right? I think i'm gonna get the jacket and the helmet that etwy is talking about. Where do you guys park ur vespa in orchard area? Is parking in town area expensive? i haven't been to town on my vespa yet. haha.

:: there's always the open carpark behind borders (coupon), the basement carpark at the al-falah mosque (cashcard), the open carpark at cineleisure (coupon), far east plaza (cashcard), plaza singapura (free I guess, otherwise cashcard)... these are the main ones... cheap cheap... only 60cents or 1dollar~ ::

Yup premix... don't engine brake :)

I believe plaza sing is free.... I just always feel its a bit of a dodgy place to park... but that's just me... I like the open air one opp cineleisure... also try the one behind the shoddy looking semi permanant tourist info centre which is opposite california fitness... There are a few lots there...

if u park at PS, just make sure u park near the entrance ramp or shops...just dont park near the exit area...or near the staircase....

if u park at the open lots, make sure u park in the lots and not next to them...

there are alot of guys in white roaming ard the area

Hello,

Need to enquire, what is the vintage value of a vespa sprint P150X (as in log book) made in 1979 (AV plater). Is this considered a PX$ It is not done up at all with so so paintwork, normal transport look. I saw this bikeshop wanting to sell it for $1000, is it worth to buy for restoration purposes? Thanks in advance....!!

dont think so dude....vintage scooter value cant be so low...porberly is might be a indian made bajaj or it's the 1st few version of PX. for a vintage vespa sprint, i paid 2.7k for mind. so yah ....hope it helps.

went down to the paint shop today, saw my scoot. 1st layer of primer has already been apply mainly to the surface of the front body and the 2 side cover.. was impression wif the job they did so far, the surface was flat smooth as thy really spend time sanding it manually.(by feeling the surface u will know) had a lil chat wif the painter, ah wei ...there will be 2 more layer of primer to go ... things are progressing slow but in a constant pace.... so i dont think i can be able to make it to the national day ride.
