I think it depends on the weight of the rider too? Ideal will probably be front 165 back 210...For me its front 190 back 220 been ridin like this for 7 mths now...Is this safe or ideal?

i'm doing something like 165 front 210 rear, usually i dun pillion people around. so should be alright..

if you're heavy or always with pillion, better to reduce ur rear pressure a bit, to reduce the amount of stress it has to bear. but might result in uneven wearing out of your tyres (esp on the sides) due to the weight bearing.

if you're average weight, seldom pillion. stick to 165/210 thereabout. too high pressure, will cause thinnin of the tyres in the centre, and also less grip (esp when u travellin at higher speeds)

anyway, the pump gauges at the kiosk not super accurate, so as long as its roughly 165/210...+/-5, would do. check condition of tyres also

Hey Guys !

Just wondering if it is possible to mod a PX to look something like the picture below?

Especially the handle bars and front fender! I think i'm in LOVE !!

apach > wah, that looks darn old n retro..... esp with the headlight situated on the front wheel instead of the handlebar area. I think its defn possible to mod a PX BUT u need to look around for the handlebar yeah? or ask scoot shops whether they have any?

I may disagree with what you have to say, but I shall defend, to death, your right to say it.

Hey Plane,

I think the handle bars can be fabricated...but i'm no expert. Might pop over to Ah Joo to see if it's possible and not to pricey.

The front fender is a bit tricky, BUT, i know for a fact the LML Tuks Tuks in India have fenders like those! Heeee! Anyone going to India soon?

It'll be sooo cool if it's possible!

Cheers!

Might turn up at Handle Bar if wife and kid have no objections!

i thought donig such handlebar too. but was too much for my pocket and got a square sprint head instead.

maybe you can mod something out of such handlebar.

http://www.redhaus.com/vespa/jpm55allstate-top-large.jpg

i saw a set @ TA before. maybe can ask them. change the bars and use back the throttle and gearshift mechanism. should be possible.

as for the mudguard...u can definitely find it in sg. seen some vespas with tt kinda mudguard.

btw..was told by ah joo such 'bicycle' handlebar's vibrates quite a bit and makes bike unstable. cos front will be very light and all. not too sure how true tt is...juz gotto try and see. maybe u can increase bar weight to prevent tt? :goodluck:

its possible to convert it that way ..... no prob ... place to do ?? Ah Kau maybe ...behind singapore post near payar lebar MRT ..... there offering one stop restoration centre .... all bout vespa n nothing else welding, painting, repair, accessories ... wah i like promote the shop siak ... true lah ... my friend is the mechanic there .. mention my name and mayde get special discount :)

but one thing to consider b4 doin it .... LTA may not approve if the light only on the fender as vespa arrived here with headlamps at the handle ....

i'm not sure abt the LTA regulation on headlights ...but u can haf 2 headlights like me...one on handle, another one on the mudguard..not cheap tho...abt $200 there abt.

and because u haf 2 headlights..end up each headlight not as bright as compared to having only one.

look good only

rae> Thanks! will make enquiries and post results if it's possible and not to ex...checked with Ah Joo about converting to round headsets with vintage speedos before, was about nearly $400. Might do it at year's end with a complete new paint job. Total will probably see $1+K burnt. sigh..

hippo > Handle Bar opposite BP House. From junction at Queenstown Shopping Center and old Bukit Merah SAFRA Clubhouse go towards AYE exit pass AIA building on the left. Do not exit into AYE ! Straight ahead, pass the traffic lights, on the left is a little road and Handle Bar is the 1st little hut there.

Did I confuse you further???? :nono:

vigano> Ah Kau is the name of the shop or the owner? Will check them out as my work place is at Ubi, a (long) stone throw away!

machine> not too sure if i dig having 2 headlights...hmm..are your lights halogen bulbs? I am also wondering if converting to LED lights is possible. Plus points for LEDs are low power consumption and long lasting. Bet it is brighter than our stock Vespa lights. Will explore those too...

So many ???....so little time....sigh

Happy riding everyone!

if u refering to halogen, i tink u refering to the xenon bulbs (those cars type..super duper bright, can see frm singapore to JB)... can be done to install... but it will be very hot, u nid to change ur headlight cover to glass, and not plastic.

if u refering to normal LED, not effective as a single bulb, nid a bunch of them in there.

BUT more importantly, white light is not as safe as compared to yellow light... especially rain. white light cannot be seen. As scientists have proven...

might be a loose exhaust? too much gas escaping results in reduced power...u might juz wan to check it by giving it a shake (when its not hot lah)

hopefully its not a cracked piston or experiencing seizure... not going to be a cheap repair

gd luck

juz checked. found some 'holes' in the exhaust. might be those holes causing it?

on top of those symptoms described earlier...i hear some clinging sound whenever i'm on high rev. juz hope it's not piston tt's ringing. been putting extra 2T lately...juz in case.. :giddy:

Nice..handlebar.

Saw it in TA before also..I also saw a few other OEM design handlebar in Thailand

But cannot pass inspection.

I did call up to check with LTA long time ago.

after got bitten by the vespa bug in Thailand.(did not even have 2b that time)

Hum the solution that i heard was to replace it everytime before inspection.

(but got to have deep pocket to do that.)

Even you have $$ to do that ... I always wonder will TP stop you. If they saw your handlebar?

Your guy enjoy yourself this friday evening.

too bad cannot join your

knock off 11 pm.

rae07>> might be the cause of it all, 'holes' = power loss = slower...n the holes allow gas to force their way out; at high rev, more gas, so might cause a rattling sound somewhere. don't really know what u meant by holes.

a puncture in the exhaust?

-change ur exhaust

a gap in the exhaust fitting? (duno how to describe)

-can use a 'clip' to tighten it, workshop shld know

better get down to a workshop to check it out, replacing an exhaust don't cost much..relatively

if its the piston.... :giddy: (u can finish the sentence for me)

Posted

might wanna consider welding back the exhaust. "patching up"
