hey guys, i have a problem wif my scooter....after assemble back to running order...almost everything was fine, some fine tuning here and there...except for the horn. they told me they tried, to use my horn and test it against other bike, and there was a lil sound coming from it...so the horn itself is out of the issue...hence voice down to wiring, they suggest me to change the whole system wiring instead of just the horn wire reason being, the horn wire itself connects to other wire..so if change just the horn wire alone, other wire which comes in contact wif it might be the real faulty wire..so preferably change the system wiring..but is changing the whole lot of wire necessary? is it possible just one wire change will do? please advice..

me very bad in wiring but maybe this will help if ur ridind on PX 12V engine ...

here it goes ..

from the engine, theres a blue wire, that goes to the main handle switch, then it goes to the horn, from the horn (the other outlet) , it goes back to the switch, then from the switch, it will go back to the back to the regulator, maybe theres something wrong between the connections ... but my advice .. go chk with mechanics lah :)

erm.. i park it at my friends hse.. coz its quite a distance from my hse to her hse so i left it there. coz i was riding halfway den the throttle suddenly came lose/ felt like disconnected and it started to high rev. so i immediately clutch in to disconnect the power den stop the bike at the side and push it to my friend's hse which is nearby.

i didn start the scoot again coz its the middle of the night. but i was trying to see whats the problem back then, by twisting the throttle it felt loosen so i presume that something snap, might be the cable or the throttle is disconnected.

how ur vespa ? if its in the west area, i can come down and have a look, no promises but i'll try look look see see, but must be west area lah :)

Mmmn... you'll need someone to troubleshoot the wiring system... the "easy" and "expensive" thing to do is to change the whole system. The "cheap" and "tricky" (read "time consuming") thing to do is to troubleshoot the system with an ohmmeter... You should be able to find where the fault is with a mechanic who is willing to spend the time to do it with the proper equipment... Honest.

Try several shops and see what each says :)

hmm...nice..i might just visits shops to shops...thanks anyway mike.

ok hi all.. my scoot back to working conditions again.. spend 3 hrs plus fixing the problem..

i do a breakdown on what i did. as stated the problem is the throttle. so me and uncle dismantle the head and check, cable head didn give way. so we went to the carb area and check. lock nut didn also.

so uncle took out the carb and check the lever. found out that the level abit wear n tear but uncle say still can use. so left the throttle cable.

so we took out the throttle cable, found out that its all rusty so uncle say not oil so the throttle got stuck. we replace a new cable and oil it before we put it back into the housing. job almost completed.

then uncle say housing also rusty liao. better to change new 1 so the problem wun persisit. although my scoot can work finely now, but i tink i would heed his advice and get my housing change. thats about it.

but damn its hard n tiring to fix the scoot in night time. but overall i was satisfied coz i was involve fixing my scoot and i learn to see the problems and solutions to fix if something like that happen again. But i will nd to get all those tools required.

new throttle cable housing should be under $10... a lever about the same I'd guess... depends on what scoot it's for.
