for the IU thing...can get either 12v or those 9v batteries will do, connect them and put in a pouch, when i need it just put it on...

 

using 9v, works fine for me. small, compact, long-lasting.

to all bros, sis and seniors and all experienced vespa / scooter rider.

 

i'm a newbie and jus now was the first time i took my dad vespa out. The problem i face is at 1 stage when i change from 3rd gear to 4th gear the bike looses power and jus died like that. And after that i have a hard time starting the bike. everytime i manage to start it when i let it idle a while or when i get into first gear the engine die.

 

Can anyone help? Pls.. need some guidance here. as it's scary when ur bike suddenly jus died in the middle of the road.

cox > congrats on your new scoot.It may give a few problems at first,but the wrinkles will soon be ironed out....when the scoot died while changing from 3rd to 4th gear,were you going at a sufficient speed??and regarding the engine dying when going into first gear,itsonfire faces that same problem...all i know what he does is he usually revs abit before changing into first gear...

maybe you could go down to a trusted mechanic, Tong Aik, Cik Ali, Roda Dua Ah Joo and tell them the problems you are facing with your scoot.They'll be more than happy to help you solve it

cox>> congrats for havin ur new scoot. what do u mean when u changing from 3rd to 4th gear it looses power and dies? does it happen like all the time? when changing to gear one, try rev-ing a bit before changing and after changing. just like mine. but first and formost, is ur fuel tap switched on? if it is, and ur scoot still behaviours like wht u stated, i suggest u go to the mechs and ask them to look into it. be sure to be there when they fix it. so next time u can diy. haha vespa is a diy bike.

hey sharpey got some questions to ask. considering that my scoot have wire and piston problem. which 1 will u advise me to do up 1st.

 

currently my scoot lights are out. so i'm looking more at the wiring side as the piston is juz slight scratches and if i dun push my scoot. it is still workable.

I think you should try to get your mom to loan you some cash and do up the whole thing once and for all, if not dangerous to ride...

Yeah... the piston isn't a big deal... just leave it be for the time being... Get that wiring sorted ASAP.... Get Wee to do it.... his wiring is top notch (ask anyone who's seen him at work....)
