'Tiang' as in my pipe goes 'Tiang..tiang..tiang...tiang..' waahaha!!

Otherwise pass your scoot to Ah Joo to send for inspection. Sure pass no hassles!

yeah... that's what he wrote... you didn't misunderstand...

Alexximkh, feel free to post questions in the classic Vespa cafe yeah...

Yup pull lever in and turn handle.... You'll get used to it.... Just be careful not to downshift when going fast... eg don't shift from 3rd to 2n'd when you're going 60kmh.... don't shift from 2n'd to first until you're nearly at a stop... Be nice to your gearbox and it'll be nice to you :)

thanks sharpey,

i really know nuts abt old vespas.

btw is it ok to engage neutral gear straight from 2nd or 3rd gear when coming to a stop? will it spoil the gear box?

also my gear handle is very stiff when i change gear, is there anyting i can do to loosen it?

btw do u know where to get all the accesories to make the scooter look more mod style?

Posted

No, its fine to go straight to neutral... no worries... just don't force it into neutral when you're going too fast... if coming to a stop, no worries :)

Stiff is good... Builds muscles... Tricky to know if your idea of stiff is the same as mine.... perhaps we could meetup sometime for kopi or something...

has anyone here tried changing their motor mounts? I've got clauss motor mounts on the way and I'm thinking of doing them myself but will definitely need hands-on help.

will pay with beer! :D

IT takes more than beer bro. haha. If u got pressing machine u can DIY. if bare hands it will take ages to install. Mounting is not wat u will want to DIY. only thing u can do is drop engine and bring it to shop. perak lane or ta. :thumb:

yeah, agree with Maz on this one... best get a shop to do it. TA installed the clauss mounts on my other PX... Save yourself the hassle and pay the labour charge... getting the old mounts out can be a real BEEATCH! :)

Speaking of BEER... the VCS folks are arranging something in a few weeks... perhaps we can amalgamate our drinking session for greater efficiency of time and merriment? What say you zulu??

hokay. speaking of rebuild im contemplating to do it myself....

If drinking.... take taxi lah!!!

Engine rebuild will be quite a challenge... The most crucial bit is also the most difficult... getting the crank out and replacing the seals... if not done properly a big headache to follow... Plenty of folks overseas have done it DIY though... so yeah....

i second that sharpey. That godforsaken seal! A delicate process that needs to be done right. If not done correctly have to restrip it again. bugger!

Stripping is easy (except the clutch nut/clutch basket) but assembling is a real pain in the ass. Crank seal will be one of the toughest/crucial part. next will be balancing the crank in the case. gotta get the tolerance right. easily the most technical part. Apart from that, stacking of gear. mark the top surface of each one as u take it out. safe u the hassle of figuring the jigsaw puzzle later. the rest shouldnt be a problem. If its ur first time opening prepare to be fustrated and challenged + time consuming. But if u have done it more often, it will take a day to strip clean and assemble everything back. Not saying we cant. its possible if u get someone to guide u and have the necessary tools. Anyway all the best narcx if u want to diy. if successful can ask u to overhaul for us.. :cheeky:

hi guys.just gotten myself a vespa gt200.

i realised everytime i release my hands off the handle bar...

the handle bar will vibrate pretty much and the bike usually tend to go move down to the right (almost like making a right turn). is this normal?

i changed my wheel bearings. tightened the steering cone . slightly better but the bike tends to move right if i let go on free roll.

no accident on this bike before.
