i'm quite sure the rest wun mind though ur fren might find us too slow? LOL esp if he's on a BIG bike

Rae > u noe how to change ya clutch cable? mmmmm maybe should learn from u ..... LOL troublesome or not? i tat time look at Mr Wee from TA change it, looks quite difficult... or maybe, i just sucks at any motoring / kinesthetic skills

Hey Guys,

Im a Vespa owner too. Its kind fun if i could join you guys to Kulai. But i dont think my bike have the capability.

About the BBQ, its Hari Raya week so busy cannot attend.

Maybe smaller meet up i can make it.

Cheers.

-----------

Riding a PX150, suspension never been change since i cant remember.

Making the quirky sound.

Still the old unfashionable seat.

No IU unit.

Blue and White Combi which i spray myself.

Very rusty.

Unmaintained.

Heh... turns out my fren got to work shift on Sat, so can't attend anyway. Oh well...

Btw, I had my first carpark incident today, hit the rear brakes a bit too hard going down a curving slope, so fell off and scooter kena scraped, scratched roughly the area of a long ruler.

Figure I should get it fixed ASAP, can you just paint over the affected area, whether by workshop or DIY? Personally like the colour of my bike, so dun really want to respray the whole thing...

Thinking of heading to DIY store to get spray paint to cover up. Advisable?

Thanks and see you guys Sat! :bounce:

Whether on bike or in a car, butt still hurt hor. Even on long journey flight, butt also hurt. Think you need a padded underwear with silicon inserted.

The classic vespa seat enduces an intirely differnt kind of arse pain.... Planescape is quite right in that these classic scoots weren't meant for long trips!

Propose name for next long classic ride to be Iron Arse 2007.... :-)

Just thought to drop a note here to thank you guys, esp deepbluey, for your help on the trip, totally didn't expect the bike to act up the way it did, esp when it was new.

Oh well, great learning exp, didn't know how little I knew about my own vehicle, and found out a few things to note.

Just feel bad that I ended up spoiling deepbluey's trip too. :sorry:

Unfortunately have to work afternoon shift on Sat, would love to come but can't, unless your bbqs end really late ack.

But definitely will try to make it next time...

Personally I'm not a fan of the old arse pain, (however it may be induced)....

Here's hoping for an arse pain free trip to work this morning :-)

While we're on the topic....

Does your scooter Vibrate alot?

Mine is almost un-bearable..... almost :-)

My bike starts vibrating when i go over 60. I wonder what speed you guys riding? I been riding for a month and I never exceed 65, for safety, and partly because of the vibrations, I scare it vibrates the screws out.. and mirrors were moving up and down.

Oh and seen some classic vespas with basket at the back, it looks nice but do you leave your helmet in the basket? its not safe rite? Thinking of installing a top box so dont have to carry helmet around, but box really spoilt the look of vespa... haha.

1st thing i say, vibration is subjective.

I quite cannot tahan the vibration when i juz got the bike.

but now, kinda getting used to it liao.

mine does vibrate alot at low speeds but stabilize at higher speeds (>50km/h)

For me, travelling at low speeds, i dun use the mirror.

Vibrates too much till no use cuz cannot see anything.

High speed is ok, like when travelling on the expressway.

It sorta stabilizes by then.

i have yet to see such a BIG basket as shown in wilsonbb's attached picture.

S'porean tends to gravitate towards the smaller version.

Can go check it out in Arab St. i think shops there got sell

A topbox does indeed decreases the drool-some factor of one's classic Vespa but rates high in practicality, unless u riding one of the auto Vespas.

For me, its a god-send to be able to stash my half-cap into the front topbox. Saves the effort of lugging it around with me!

vespa does vibrate more compared to other bikes, but i think the vibration usually comes when left to idle? at least its like that for mine... once i start to throttle, everything is smooth...

sharpey, i thought u have stabilisers on your ride? should reduce the vibrations also right..or does it just dampen the left and right swing?

i think tall basket a bit not so nice... as compared to those longish ones... but it does increases the overall length of the scooter, harder to park. haha

hey guys, just askin on behalf of my fren.

the other day we both went to tong aik and look at the pictures of vespas they haf restored/mod. Then he saw one tt looks different from the others. When we asked the auntie, she said it is the "sampan" style. But then she said it wasnt street legal. Wht my fren wanna noe is, the sampan style doesnt look dangerous but why issit not legal? issit really not legal? how to noe whether certain stuffs tt u mod on ur bike are legal? thanks guys, hope u guys can help.

the stabilisers (along with the decent shocks) get rid of any wobbliness in the rear.... so I can corner like a motorcycle and cruise at speed and be stable...

The vibes... well, I guess you get used to them... mine have calmed somewhat, especially after I finally (I hope) got my carb setup properly... Over-rich carburation increases engine vibration.... Who Knew???

itsonfire... Sampan style.... sounds hilarious... no idea mate! Perhaps snap a pic of it next time you go down....

I thought half the fun was the vibration that's almost therapeutic...better than any Osim chairs i know! Heee!

Only thing I cannot get use to is the effect it has on your hands on a long ride, your fingers and fore arms goes numb after a while. sheeesh.

Okay, Sampan style. You've seen them before...those Vespas with the front leg shield 'folded' backwards. Like the bow of a boat, or should i say like a racer's fairing. Most ridiculous thing to do to a Vespa if you ask me.
