Ok I'm finally riding on 2 wheels again after a 1 year plus break. Dad in law borrowed me his Excel and it brings back so much wonderful memories as the first bike I rode was a PX200(dad in-law's bike too). Sadly the COE for the Excel is ending next July so I'm currently hunting for a PX. I noticed that the rear wheel is tilted to one side, somebody once told me it's due to worn out bushing. How much will it cost for replacement(inc labour)? If it's too ex I'll prob leave it alone.

not too ex to change the rubber engine mounts and top shock mount (i.e. bushings)... will make the ride feel a little less wobbly!

And nice one for "returing to the fold" :)

You should ask the shop what you get in a $32.50 service... we may not be accurate...

In general this will include piston + cylinder head cleaning, carb flushing, new gear oil and a new spark plug... But ask to be sure...

Worth doing every few thousand kms... esp since the vespa doesn't have an oil filter, gear oil needs changing more frequently.

I went today.. missed out the piston+head cleaning.. total $22 with own supply of spark plug.. I had the wrong plug with me, wanted to buy one there but Hendra traded mine for a correct plug so I wun have to spend more moeny.. Great guy

sounds reasonable....

but if you want to save the few extra dollars you can always clean your carb and filter with petrol/carb cleaner. engine oil shouldn't be more then 4 bucks.

Teck Seng Vespa Service opposite thomson hospital does all that for $16

$22 = cost of keeping hands clean and time free :p

Lambchops... be sure to get the holder that is specific to your model. I believe later model PX's take a different flywheel holder.

Did anyone realise that shop "X" uses second hand parts banged together with a blunt chisel??

Do folks come on here and talk trash about shop "X"?

Are you aware of the big picture?

Sorry... but don't come on here and talk trash.

Go to the shop you like.

The reason I am asking as I heard from someone who told me that and also seeking advise here and dun wish to get con by the shop. That I think most of the people here does not wish to be get con too that why forum is the place to discuss.

Nicholas,

perhaps it was the way you phrased your question. Sharpey wasn't being rude. He was just trying to warn you against libel. the individual's idea of overcharging is also relative and subjective.

Shop A might charge 20% more than Shop B but A's service/quality might be twice better. So which shop is overcharging for the level of service? B? You decide.

Thanks Lambchops... that's what I was trying to say...

Sorry if I sounded a bit upset there Nicolas... must have been the beer talking...

I'd really love to be able to talk trash (i.e. beeatch about) a couple of shops... You just can't do that online...

I am a regular at TA... and yes there is a general perception that they are more expensive than other shops. Like lambchops said... the price isn't the only factor...

And any shop can take advantage of someone who doesn't know the scene well... its not nice, but it is business. That's why we created the wiki... which is far from perfect... but can always improve in helping newbies learn "what's what" with their scooters.

Sorry for being abrupt about it.

BTW I found a nice P150X already.. How much does it cost for a respray?

Alright. I just want to know about that shop and did not give any comments of it. Hope you understand why I asked that. Have more chat with you guys when there is a meet up again.

Btw does anyone go to JB for doing up their vespa? Any experience or comments in there?
