Also, if your flywheel has this gap in it...(the hole that looks like a bean at the bottom there) chances are you've got points ignition

http://website.lineone.net/~smallframes/images/engine/removing-flywheel.jpg

hey marciano... not that I know of... I have spoken to Mr. Wee about it before, it would seem that he could do it if you gave him some time to borrow a timing gun...

You don't technically need a dial gauge (although they are more accurate)... A piston stop and a degree wheel will work almost as well (I think it's scooterhelp that has the tutorial on that)...

Putting a longstroke crank in?? :)

oh man, brake not working well, no signal n think it should be wiser not to

ride too far from my home. so i went to tampines to meet ali to fix the

above n at the sametime, to get my scoot for an 'extra' service. :cheeky:

yes, the cable for my speedomter is snapped. no stock n thus have to go

back again next week.

no, my scoot is not runs on CDi, so disapponted. i thought it was becos

the kick start is so far doing fine for me.

http://i87.photobucket.com/albums/k130/yeobt/0170.jpg

was told by ali that mine is an alloy block n is capable for high speed.

http://i87.photobucket.com/albums/k130/yeobt/0171.jpg

the carb has also been modified.

http://i87.photobucket.com/albums/k130/yeobt/0172.jpg

am considering whether to change to CDi or stick to contact point.

any suggestion? does changing to CDi helps with smoother start?

what is the other advantages?

the cost for the changing is $280 for the CDi plus $70 to change the

starter or something like that. is the price ok? :o

thx,

hehehehehe. seems u know what i'm up to. already fixed a pinasco kit in it and drilled my filter. so i guess to get more potential to it i think the 60mm crank shud be gd. to get the 225cc tiger out since without the 60mm crank the pinasco kit will only be 215cc. correct me if i'm wrong. but i need to get my timing right. so still sourcing out places that does timing. do u think ban hoe leong sells that dial gauge? and also, i read this article on stella webbie and came about this term "deblued" or something like that. do u know what that is?

Figures.... I've got a longstroke waiting to go in my 215 :)

Yep, you'll need to redo the timing marks... I've looked for a dial gauge without much luck... don't think scootershops will sell... BUT there is this place in Singapore that might sell... will get the link off my work computer tomorrow...

Stella's air filter comes with an extra piece of blue filter... our scoots don't have this so its not a worry....

Do note that you'll have to do something about the cylinder head... the one that comes with the kit is a bit crap for both 215 and 225 applications. Suggest you contact Hot rod AL in Fresno about this hodrodscooters.com (he prefers talking on the phone apparently... any time after 6pm US time)... AL can sort out a proper head to suit either 215 or 225.

Hmm... well a cdi 12v ignition is going to give you better lighting... and more reliable running (points need adjusting from time to time)... If you want to switch to DC later it is definitely worth it... Not sure of any other benefits though... Shop around for quotes..

So you've got a Pinasco 177 on there... nice find... :)

thanks for the hint. i thought u're using the pinasco kit too right? what kind of cylinder head are u using?

My cylinder head is from Worb5... it's not ideal though... still need a 1mm head gasket to keep compression down... You can try getting a stock 200 head milled out to 69.5mm to accept the pinasco piston...

Or...talk to Hot Rod Al in Fresno :)

ok, i juz called ah joo to check on the price for a new CDi, less than

$200 is correct. ali quotes me $250 + $70 i suppose is for the used flywheel.

ah joo says my old flywheel can be re-useable.

my question is, do i need to change my flywheel to accomodate the new

CDi or ah joo is correct to say that my flywheel can be retained?

did you change your flywheel when you upgrade to CDi?

thx, :o

hey guys, just got my scoot back from the shop (did side cowl setting, mudguard fitting and flywheel change). i noticed that the scoot was unusually heavy to push or ride. i had thought it could be due to a heavier flywheel whatnot..

yesterday, i went to fit a new front shock on my own, and thought of doing the rear too, but only to a shocking discovery..my rear tire sidewall was scrapped down, leaving the tyre carcass exposed! this happened only to the side with the suspension. found out that the sidewall has been rubbing with the spring.

i'd like to know, if doing the setting (welding) for the sidecowls, does the shop necessarily need to relocate the upper mounting point for the shock? my tyre previously never rubbed against the rear shock before, till i got it back frm the shop.

also, i purchased the rectangular bush (fitted on top of the shock) and thought of installing the two together. will this help clear the spring frm the tyre sidewall?

about changing the rear shock, is it a must to remove the tank to access the nut securing the shock? or could i just fit in the shock and keep turning it until it seats properly?

They didn't install the wheel back to front did they???

Take it back to the shop and have them pay to put it right...

Is this a PX scooter? If so there should be a extender bolt on top of the shock and a rubber buffer (like the one you mention)... The mounts from claussstudios.com are much better though.. See the vespa wiki for more details...

but yeah... the shop should bear the cost of putting that rubbing problem right I would think
