den what should i do now? i worry bout my engine.

Huh!?...what do u mean what u should do now?...I already help u identifed the 'problems'. I suggest u go back to the bike shop and tell them your problem has not been solved yet..afterall u spend ur $$$s there already. Not sure they did what they did or u told them what u wanted to do..there is a different as they would not want to be blame as they would changed whatever you told them.

ah pek, ask u, where is the thermostat? is it at the radiator itself?

You can't see it bekuz its house in a 'shell' just under the tank. You can see it on the left hand side of your bike just under the right hand side of your frontal fuel tank. Its has two or three piping link..one to radiator, two to the engine block water jacket I think. There are 2 or 3 nut screws that you have to take out and open the shell..the thrmostat is inside there...yes, it can rust and get jammed. It act as a "gate" (open and close) to regulate hot coolant flow from 83 degreed celsius to 102 (bad) degreed Celsius.

Anyone knows how much does it cost to flush and top up the coolant/radiator at the bike shop?...just found out that the coolant inside the reservoir is empty and container is dirty....will the mechanic clean up the reservoir tank as well?

I wanted to change the world. But I have found that the only thing one can be sure of changing is oneself.

Not really and usually they don't bother especially removing the rust from your rubber hose. Make sure they don't use tap water to mixed or to filled up your coolant system..only distilled or deionised water is to be used..if they use premixed type..make sure the coolant system is filled with the correct amount..about 1.8 to 2 litres depending on how they drained ur coolant. Cost at least $55 and above without what I just mentioned. Need help..pm me.

hello riders! is it ok if i use car coolant for my super 4? e.g toyota concentrated coolant etc. thx.

Coolant are all the same..no problem. Make sure premix is of 50/50 and if you get concentrated ones..besure only to mix with distilled or deionised water.

If you have top up too full at the reservoir tank..than its overflow due to too much as you ride and those trap in the overflow tube wil come out if you stop. However, it could be coolant system block and overheating caused your coolant to bil at the reservoir and coolant flows out from your overflow tube. Check and see if your rubber cap has rpple like patter on its ubderside..if it has, it has been boiling for awhile if not..may be it just started. At any rate..check your coolant level and refill with fresh coolant, Listening to boiling out noise next time if your engine feels xtraordinary hot.

hi Ah Pek, i think it could be choke. thrs no sign of coolant leaking. rubber cap seems o.k. wat if one of the seals wear off & culd leads the coolant to engine oil??? :faint: do you think so?? this thing happens when i have it(coolant) replaced. haizz...

U have to know exactly where the leak is coming from..from ur earlier explaination..it seem like its from your reserve tank over flow tube. As for seal you mentioned..not sure which are you referring too unless its at the coolanr pump. If that's is the case..better to change the coolant pump rather than opening the pump and replacing the rubber seal which is pretty usless. The seal in the pump is internal and seperates eo and coolant..if that one is damage..have to change the pump.

Again..b4 u decide and confirmed anything..try and find out where EXACTLY the leak is coming from. Don't go bike shop yet..they dunno what leak oso ask you change this and that afterwards...LOL!

Ur radiator fan switch is faulty or out of commission liao..have it change. Its the thing that stick out on the left hand side of ur radiator with a live wire which some ppl think its a "thermostat". B4 you confirmed changing..the fault could be ur extractor fan..ground it to test it first if its turning. If radiator switch is okay and fan motor cannot cut "ON"..same symptom as u described here.

Ah Pek, wana ask, pardon me if it has been repeated.

Had changed my coolant about a year ago from stock to Maxima Cool-Aide.

Recently, I notice that the reservoir indication there keeps getting lower & lower, until yesterday while DIY changing my batt, I notice the level is at the bottom neck!

Had immediately top it up to inbetween levels & yet to see hw it has been.

My query is, how come the coolant will be "missing"?

There's no rusts or leaks, the fan's working fine, the radiator will be as hot as the engine after runs.

So what gives?

Nothing t be confuse about...just that it's "used up". Even a lake without rain for years will dry up one day.

Don't worry..its not a noob question...we all starts somewhere..its at ur ride side side panel cover below ur seat. Have to take off just ur seat and access the side panel. Yah..u top up ur coolant into it till the upper level line indicator. Just make sure don't use tap water..u be safe and good from having rust forming in radiator,

hi Kev, ur problem related to mine. same coolant brand & same prob not even a rusts or leak... Yesterday i went to Racewerk motorshop to rectify the prob. My radiator cap rubber was faulty and got it replaced. i paid $73 for the OEM cap, ipone coolant 2bottles + labour.

Ah Pek once again thnks for ur feedback. bf i went to motorshop, i check the reserve tank & is empty again. b4 i move off, top up water till the upper lvl. but now got a new problem :faint: WHEN i did a high rev, chain or bearing sound been heard at the rhs engine cover. not sure what it is. this coming sat will go back to the shop again.
