drive a 'car' but pay motorcycle taxes ?

I believe the original idea for the creator(s) was to introduce an alternative vehicle which would have less road presence without compromising on the essentials of a car. The vision was to replace cars with these hybrids and ease traffic flow overall. I believe it was more of the intention to have 3 CarverOnes fit into 2 car lanes.

 

However, this 'noble concept' morphed into something quite different and is now more of a luxury 'toy'. No doubt, the experience is quite remarkable and is THE selling point for this hybrid vehicle. The manufacturers have since moved away from the original motivation - for a better future - to the issue of a pleasurable lifestyle choice.

 

As for the Singapore dynamics, we wanted to contribute to keeping costs manageable for the average motorist through the classification of the vehicle so that the roadtax, COE, insurance coverage and ERP costs will all be low and help keep it a bit more affordable. At the same time, we also wanted to allow for as many motorists as possible to experience the chance to ride and/or own one for themselves.

 

The VentureOne is purported to be a much more affordable version of the hybrid vehicle, aimed to be priced at two-thirds of the CarverOne. In the meanwhile unfortunately, the CarverOne under the current classification of a car per se, may not be desirable to the masses...
