Apparently, Bikelab is the distributor for Starlane,

http://www.starlane.com/distributors.htm

So I trust that they know their products since they bring in the DG8 indicators, I cannot comment how much they charge, but I hope it's within the range of $20 - $30.

Who's interested in going to Bikelab to install?

I have to make a correction.

called up Bikelab and they don't do installation.

Guess Bikewerkz are the only guys who're experienced in this

Ah Beng took my bike as a guinea pig. What does mean "He likes abit of headache?" He didn't solve and fail to install. By hook or by crook, he got others right, so what so big about.

erm. Mr Tay BL, can u read XBOX80's post properly?

....thats why he see i want to install he like a bit headache....

i think u misunderstood his post. he doesnt mean Ahbeng likes headache.

hes saying tat when ahbeng sees that XBOX80 wants to install, he kind of 'looked' headache.

ur previous post stated that it was 'the Ah Beng's young assistant' who did the damage to u? so its AHBENG who did the installation or his YOUNG ASSISTANT?

hope to make things clear. no offence.

Thanks for clearing the air of misunderstanding. Ah Beng and his assistant did the job. Job not done, I don't like people to take me for a ride. My regular mechanic said he can do it and I left it in the shop for him to install. If he still can't fix it, then I need to live by fact my bike is not compatible with it. Maybe, sell it at a discount or keep it for my next bike.

i think u have to set up the gears again.. i had a similar situation before.. mine from gear 2,3 and 4.. erratic.. after Alex helped me with the gear set up, everything ok liao..

I'm not prepared to rev my engine up to 10,000 RPM again.

Y not? Bike like this are meant to be revved to high RPMs. Ppl who always go to track will always revved their bike more than tat and bike will still have no problems..

i think the trick is, u must rev and change gear just like normal riding. I presume ur bike is a yamaha. Same as mine. Alex had to rev up to about 9k, maintain at ard 9k, den the gears changed. Sumhow, he manage to do it quite fast, so my headers did not go glowing red as like i did on my own.

Alex changed the gears as soon as the number changed. Your clutch, gear and throttle movements must be just like when ur riding. The only difference is the high rpm. I found that my mistake was holding on to the clutch too long after changing gears and letting the RPM go down to almost 0 before revving up again when setting up the gears.. After seeing how Alex set mine, then i realised where i did wrong.

i hope this info helps.

Did you rev at least 9k RPM for all gears throughout?

By right, during programming of the gears, the gear should change when the gear is setup up successfully.

If that is the case, why isn't gear 2 reading on the gear indicator?

to rev the bike up to 10k while it's on the stand and while on the road is quite different as on the road, engine has some load.

it's quite scary when the bike the revved up to 10k while it's on its mainstand or trackstand. U really pray hard nothing goes wrong with the mainstand or trackstand..

there is another way though to set up the indicator.. do it while riding.. But i think will need a long stretch of clear road esp if need to rev up to 10k. Someone did mention about this at the beginning of the MO

Now the problem is I don't have the luxury of a long stretch of road to begin with. Plus I'm not prepared to risk my safety to be doing this on the street.

i have a problem.. the gear indicator works erraticly.. esp at gear 2 to 5.. eg: when at gear 3, the gear shows 3 den after awhile showed 4 without me changing gears.. sumtimes when dropping gears, the indicator maintain at 5.. did i do the set up wrongly?.

anyone care to help?..

this was my posting when i encountered my problem. Erratic reading of gears.

yeah.. my correct setting was done by Alex. I was there when he was doing it. He did rev gradually and maintain at ard 9k++ before the numbers changed to proceed on the next gear.

the only reason i can think of is, wrong or incorrect gear settings. Need to reset the settings again.

fair enough.. so the other only way is, to put your bike on a mainstand or trackstand and rev up the gears.

Just another idea.. mebbe a dyno run...

anyway, what bike u riding?

2001 R1

6th gear needs to rev up to 10,000 RPM , the rest were revved below 10, 000 RPM as soon as the gear change

It's crazy on a track stand

ur's and my setting should be the same. i am riding a fazer1000 o5 model. This model uses a detuned R1 engine. So most likely, u have to rev up till 10k as what the manual says. Did u rev up and hold it there at gear 6 till the blue shift light blinks signalling to u that set up is over?

anyway, i think u need to reset the gears again. So far mine has no problem, it's reading the gears correctly.

well the indicator really works well with my bike.......no problems until today......setting up n installing v easy.......beng took out the left middle cowl, remove the cover hiding the left air intake n from there just connect the wires according to the instructions....n he set the gears with ease....pretty straight forward......

Yep did that, in fact, Bikewerx did the programming of the gears for me.

The gear indicator works alright, except that gear 2 isn't showing

My best bet is to go back to Bikewerx
