Normally I gauge from the timing for my RPM to stable down to 1.5.

But recently seems to take longer to reach 1.5.

By the way, can I check with you, how do we know if the spark plugs are due for replacement?

Ahh... ok. Sorry, wasn't using my brain earlier... :p

On cold start, RPM is higher and will settle to about 1.4k-1.5k after "warming up". I haven't really timed this process to be able to feedback to you. How long does yours take?

Will try to remember timing my bike tomorrow and suggest you do the same for comparison.

@idbiot

Time taken to warm up my bike (without revving after starting) is about 1.5 minutes. At this point, engine rev will start to gradually slow down to about 1.4k RPM idling speed. The radiator fan will be turned on at about 2 minutes from start.

What is your timing like? Fan switches on?

I think if your warm-up time is much longer, the temperature sensor may be faulty.

Be wary of the source of information for your bike's maintenance. Some FAQs are compiled by people who lack the technical know how.

Currently riding a Pulsar 180, have to wait till next year JUNE till i can get my license.

Any other REVO-ians out there may share if they want to!

Since reading the WHOLE thread, i am somewhat worried that REVO might have too many electrical problems or wiring problems.

As lds said Ive had my revo for 2 years have ridden 45000kms and not a single electrical problem, everything is perfect. Maybe the problems you read are the pre 2008 spec I,II & III models.

ldslds bro. Is it expensive to fix these few problems?

Resmen bro. I've been reading this exact forum so im quite sure ive been reading about REVOs. :) seems like this problem doesnt happen to every bike.

Sighhh. Too bad another half a year then only can go learn 2a. Hehe. Thanks guys for the feedback!

Just sharing my experience. Mine is the 1st gen revo(grey engine). Bought 2nd hand from bike shop. After replacing battery once, never encountered any double swipe problems. But my EO oil would not go off after the needles swipe. Went to Boon Siew to rectify the problem. Apparently the pulse generator assembly needed to be replaced. I replaced that and the starter gasket.

No problems till now. Only that when cold start, rpm can go up to 2 to 2.5. I'll always wait till its 1.4 then move out.

Note: I'm not sure what the pulse generator assembly is. Just quoted from my receipt from Boon Siew.:cheeky:

All that are basic dispensables that will be needed to change when it's time due bro.... As compared to class 2b it's definitely more costly but same to those who are driving and riding class 2 , their maintenance will also cost more than most 2A .... Bro static369 no la that one is normal for revo haha, cos revo has auto-choke so whenever we cold start the bike will on auto-choke to warm up out bike , no worry about that

I just bought mine in early October from M1 Motoring at Changi Road after hunting for about 2 months. While hunting, I also checked out Bike Production at Serangoon Rd and walked away for one simple reason: Sales people didn't speak English and the only person who could seems to be the boss or whatever. He didn't have time to talk to me and seemed quite "stuck up" so I walked away.

It is a Dec 08 registered bike with high mileage (62k km). With this in mind, I knew I had to spend a bit of money when I bought it. Luckily for me, I managed to wrangle a 2 months warranty from the salesman before I signed the documents so it has been FOC. In $ and cents, what does this mean?

Purchase price:

Freebies:

- Free re-spray. I didn't like the stock blue. Salesman offerred re-spray. I chose an expensive paint, so I topped up $100 for re-spray.

- Full servicing - New plugs, oil, oil filter

- New K&N filter

- New chain and sprockets set

- New tyres

- Flushed radiator and replaced coolant

- New stock mirrors (bike had those tiny Koso mirrors which had rusted in some spots.)

- 42L Box with rack

After getting the bike, I spent about a week familiarising myself with my new toy. Then I went up north to open up the throttle. This is an important thing to do as riding in Singapore with the low speed limits will not reveal some of the faults. By faults here, I mean those parts that need replacing due to wear and tear.

My bike failed it's first test and the magnet coil in the alternator died. Towed it back at my own expense but bike shop replaced the coil with OEM Honda coil FOC.

Then, @GothRod posted about the sweep on ignition issue. I went back to the shop and spoke to them about it. They replaced the battery FOC. Though it is one of those cheap batteries, I'm not complaining because I know it will last for at least a year. Good for my wallet...

Bike Test 2 - Ran it for about 390km. Full speed when traffic and weather allowed. Bike passed.

Bottom line - I am a very happy and proud owner of the 1st generation Revo!

pssst... I believe I'm very lucky and managed to "click" with the M1 Motoring guy. I am just sharing my experience so others are aware of what they can possibly get. However, I hope no one takes my personal experience and expect the same from them or other shops.
