But 5000km is less than half of manual indication. A bit too low?

 

Experience would also come in handy.

Being the world's largest motorcycle manufacturer, surely Honda knows a thing or two about "engine heat and breakdown of lubricant viscosity" in motorcycles. Now, why would Honda recommend 12,000km oil change intervals? :lol: :lol: :lol:

Spot on! These mechs just want to sell their service packages to make more money for themselves. It's easy for them to do it because they play on unsuspecting bike owners' emotions. Putting emotions aside, the fact remains that Honda is a reputable manufacturer and as you have rightly said, would not risk any PR nightmares by recommending an unsustainable oil change interval.

 

SO NOW, what if Honda is playing with unsuspecting bike owners' emotions by recommending 12,000km oil change intervals, so as to let the parts in the engine wear out faster? and people will scrap and buy new bike sooner? you might insist you are right and say that if HONDA engine is so lousy so as to wear out so fast, people will not choose HONDA, now think again, how many people change their EO at 10K km intervals and has been riding the bike for more than 5 years to let the long EO changing intervals' aftermath effect takes place? The recommendation is based on Japan with 4 seasons and ave temp much lower as compared to singapore.

 

Is it worth to risk the repair fee in $XXXX just to save the $XXX ? think of this urself.....

 

To conclude, its up to individual to choose how to maintain their bikes, to me its always better to preventive than to corrective. I will still stick to my 4.5K km EO changing intervals, cheers and ride safe bros :cool:

Hi friends, need help!

Has anyone installed accessories connected to their ignition/light switch? I bought an Inforad camera/radar detector that has a Red and Black wire that needs to connect.

Any idea where the ignition wire is on the CB400? Is it in the headlight casing? Once I find it, how do I splice and connect it?

Don't worry about challenging me or anyone else, for that matter. This is a public forum and it is good to ask for clarifications or to correct wrong information posted. Anyone who has a problem with being questioned on their post, is just too egoistic, and perhaps shouldn't be here in the first place. :cool:

So, please stop changing your engine oils at 3000 or 5000km. Stop advising people to change at those low intervals. Not only are you wasting money, you are wasting one of the planet's most limited supplies.

 

Got a few questions to ask you to clarify.

 

1) Regarding normal running-in, why not use the oil change interval as stated in the CB400 Revo owner's manual?

 

2)100, 300, 600, 1000km interval for running-in is way overkill isn't it?

You run in your Revo and change at such short intervals? No offence but not every cost efficient IMO.

 

3)How sure after 1000km oil change, the metal particles are totally removed? How much RPM must be used when running-in between the oil change interval?

 

4)Manual stated used 4 stroke motorcycle oil or equivalent. Previously you mentioned can use car Engine oil and use for 10k km mileage before you change it.

So meaning you beg to differ from the manual, specially from Honda which is reputable in the automotive world producing so much motorcycles and cars?

 

5)Manual stated more frequent oil change as stated in the maintenance schedule when running the bike in very dusty condition.

So in Singapore with so much constructions and road works, with the dirt and dust all around, we should ignore the claus stated in Page 95 of the manual and continue using its maintenance schedule?

Hmm it seems like the interval for engine oil change during run in is a hot topic. From my point of view it is down to personal preference, just like there will be fellow mechanics/riders who strongly suggest changing oil filter and spark plugs during EO change out while others skip per interval.

 

Personally I had done EO change at 100, 300, 600, 1000, 1500 +/- at each interval (adjusting) to the level of metal fillings see. I would say the manual act as a general guideline, and it is up to personally finding to execute what they feel best for themselves. Each individual of us have our own point of view how and why. Let’s just share and clarify our doubts and take others comment's as reference. In the end, it’s still your choice and preference yeah? Cheers!! :D

I bought a new bike and i am glad to have changed the engine oil at 100,300,600,1000 intervals. Every oil change i did, the engine oil that turned out was filled with metal fillings. Regarding oil change interval i would say theres no right and wrong. Its just the amount of kiasuness each person prefer to put into their bike.

i agree with @StrongBow totally. its a matter of preferences and judgement. the manual states 12000km, but if at 7000km the bike start to feel rough, sluggish and have poorer petrol consumption, dont die die wait for 12000km la.. it may be because of the oil choice or wadever. we are the best judge for our own bike. do progressive experiment on the bike and see what is your bike tolerance on the EO cycle based on your EO choice.

There is no one who is right and no one who is wrong. To find out who is correct, a test must be carried out in such a way that two bikes must be ridden exactly the same style, at exactly the same route, in exactly the same weather, by riders of the same weight, clocking the same mileage, etc. with only one difference that is oil change interval, and both bikes wait dont know how many years to see whose engine break down first. Almost impossible test to carry out therefore no one is right and no one is wrong.

Then u wont get an answer out of any question already mah. Hahaha. For eg, why dentist recommend visits every half year? Can use ur family home "Mozola" or "Knife" brand cooking corn oil..change every week change once ;0)

With regards to EO change, the only way to test it out is to send it to a lab. In USA, I have seen riders especially those who do track days, who send their engine oil to private labs to test their EO. That way they test what EO is best for their race machines, and how well each brand/type of EO withstand the extremes of track.

 

To my info, I do not know of such a service available in SG at affordable price for members of the public.

Got it from Boon Siew and to fix appt via the number given but i arranged appt via internet 'cos no one answered when i called back then.

Hi friends,

 

my BlueFlame arrived today at work! Couldn't wait so I used the tools provided in the CB400 and started to work on it ASAP.

 

First impressions of the exhaust was very light compared to stock. Installation was quite straight forward. However, not sure if I've aligned it properly since it's very close to the suspension springs. Stazza, how's yours? Maybe it's my specific model compared to your Dual Outlet.

 

All in all, I'm very happy with the BlueFlame Power gains? Can't tell so much, probably because it needs a retune or something but I can definitely feel the bike pull away once VTEC kicks in after mid range. Wonder how it will go after tuning. One little gripe is that the badge logo appears to be a cheap sticker plastered on. Have heard customers ordering badges from BlueFlame for replacement. Hopefully it won't peel off due to exhaust heat, rain, dirt, wind, etc...

 

It's also VERY bassy. Not overly loud, but loud enough to keep those cagers at bay. I still have the baffle in it, will post a video tomorrow with it off soon! Definitely recommend this slip-on for the price. I was considering and Akra/Yoshi but the price and comments received made this a clear winner. In mean the time, video below!

Nice pipe bro! Im guessing you are from australia? The blueflame pipe is not legal for REVO in singapore. And that sucks bro! Cheers mate.
