Just caught "The Days".. I would say it was very well shot. Well-captured the 90s era as well.. All those who went through that phase in the 90s with all the ah bengs and ah sengs, all the smoking in the toilets, all the 'brother-brother' I watch your back, you watch my back thingy, settle in the lift thingy, extortion from those weaker boys thingy, you whack my brother, i whack you, skipping class to play dai dee under the void deck only to be chased by am pai.. (whoops, the last one is my own experience.. he he)..

 

Only one word to describe.. Reminiscing

 

Makes me wonder, after more than a decade ago.. what have I actually done with my life? Where have all the years gone by? Have I achieved something in life?

 

Could I do better should I be given a second chance?

 

How would life be if I didn't do what I shouldn't have done?

 

Some people might say "We must keep looking forward so that we can move on" but on the contrary, there is also "We must know where we come from to know where we are going"..

 

Last of all, the film was shot at a place where I had fond memories of when I was in my prime young adult years..

Heh heh.. if anyone wants to know, that school was the place where I gave my first try on a bike.. it happened to be my friend's old FZR.. I was only 16 then and was conducting a camp at that school.. The camp instructors had night walks along the classes, slept in the AVA room, go ghost hunting at 'popular' spots in the school.. ah those were the days..

 

Now the area is all bare and empty.. took several photos there before.. maybe go back and hunt for them...

I remember when I was in Sec 1 I was actually a kwai kia oso.. listened to my parents' advise to study hard.... till...

 

ANOTHER KWAI KIA with a SUPER KIAM PA FACE who thinks he's a bloody rascal and tried to choke me just because I refuse to give up my seat on the parade square while waiting for the assembly..

 

Thank god for the prefect who stopped him, if not ah, confirmed I kena choked till die liao or at least that's what was running thru my mind at that point of time..

 

Then on, I begin to hang out with 'brothers' and first thing I did was to gave that MOFO something back.. Well, things begin to go downhill from there, I begin to get poor grades for my studies, especially my geography, history and mathematics(surprisingly cos maths was my forte in pri sch).. mostly I succumbed to laziness and just wanna hang around with my 'brothers' and I never fail to make those goodie two shoes' lives miserable.. even to the point of taking away my classmate's calculator the day before the Maths paper for Mid Year exams..

 

MY mum got called in to the principal's office the very next day.. Of course with my mum there, I admitted to it and was given a stern warning..

 

Seemingly mischief never fails to evade me as I continued to find joy in making people's lives inconvenient..

 

Fortunately a glimmer of hope came in a very punishing way when I was finishing my Sec 3 and with it lost my 'brothers' but it was a good thing as I was back to my studies and found back the passion that I lost last time which was the Npcc back then.. I shan't elaborate what actually happened but there was a price to pay of course..

 

Glancing back, there are so much more I could have done instead of doing some things that I am not very proud of..

 

Well, everyone has their own past and some even more colorful than mine but still made it through as they realized their mistake before its too late..
