Hi Folks,

i'm a newbie here. but i would like to ask the reviews on the following bikes.

KTM 200 EXC

KTM 200 SX

WR 200

(or any other scrams that belong to 200cc)

the questions are:

wad are the acceleration like? which 1 is the most powerful?

which 1 has the best FC?

which is the best bike to ride? e.g. vibrations affecting riders, etc

which is best for trail?

Reviews on other Scrams are welcomed too! everyone can learn together too =)

Great thanks!

Cheers,

hi im new too.

ktm, WR, XR, TW, gasgas are the more popular 200cc scrams.

KTM/gas gas are race ready and european. Means expensive to maintain but fast. KTM would be the most powerful and FC is around 12-15km/l

WR is jap and is next in terms of power. FC is around 20km/l

XR and TW are 4 strokes. dun have as much power (but still powerful) and has good FC. generally jap bikes have cheaper maintainance and parts but reliability.... have to see how its maintained.

So gas gas scrams are not readily available rite? i haven seen any EC200 being sold in SBF or any1 riding on the roads. i guess it should be a very rare bike. What about the Husqvarna 125 scram? hows the review on that scram? FC/ maintenence of the scram?

Thanks for the replies guys

So whats the differnce between an KTM 200 EGS, KTM 200 EXC, & KTM 200 SX? is a honda CRF 2-stroker? availble in 200CC? pardon my noobness. thanks a lot for infos guys

Posted

basically egs n exc not much a difference... exc just to mark the year "2000" model lo.. but got difference between the 1999-2003 model and the 1998, n 2004 onwards model.. tat means getting a 1998 model is amost the same as getting a 2004, a premix model..... between 1999-2003 is a 2T injection model.. premix model is of cos more power then a 2T injection model.. sx is dinfinely more powerful then egs/exc.. but the year model differences oso the same as egs/exc.. but u can mod ur egs/exc to a "sx" on the road.. sx model is not road legal thou.. if u are looking for a KTM I have a 1998 model for sale fully rebuilt... PM ONLY if interested...

honda crf is a 4 stroke.. 150/250/450, but not road legal too, honda cr/crm is a 2 stroke 125,250.... cr is not road legal.. crm almost close to extiction... I onli know of like 1 or 2 person tat is still riding the crm250...

N i dont think there is so call "best scram" around...... is the rider that makes the difference... but IMHO this is the best scram around but i dont think is avilable in Singapore.. QOUTE " The spec of the bikes indicated top speed of 400km/h and can climb not only hill but vertical wall even... Guess the latest KTM enduro 990 not even close! Hahaha... (warning: Comments are not to be taken seriously.)" :

i prefer wr200 cos i am riding one yeah. but still other scrambles are good too. after all still depend on rider . fuel com wise 4 stroke bike is better. but for 2b scramble, 2 stokes i feel than has more power. :thumb:

so scrambler's maintenance how? is it expensive because of 2 stroker? how much does it usually it cost for a WR2 or KTM2? will it give it any problem if i travel from tampines to singapore poly? cause i dun want my bike to have any problems after such a long distance. i noe its kind of wasted for scram to travel back and forth from school. but cant help it. only interested in scrams. =X i dun mind the FC. just want to ride it!

i would also like to go offroad too. but can wr2 or ktm2 continously work for long distance? or is it not meant for highway usage(i mean long haul distance)? thanks for all the info.

i'm looking for scrams now. but haven pass my riding yet. still a long way to go! i will work hard to earn my 1st scram! hopefully a wr2 or ktm2 :cheeky:

anywae, like to ask this, if i am 18, whats the price of the insurance that i must pay for a WR2 or KTM2? is it very high? do i need to buy theif and fire insurance or just my own insurance?

enlighten my please! thanks a lot guys~!:)

ktm2 use daily can, but wear and tear high. before u know it have to replace lots of expensive parts that can easily add up and cost at least half the price of the bike. as long as u take care of ur bike, it will not spoil but normal wear and tear will happen.

Its really uncomfortable riding on expressway esp long distance. Vibration can literally kill u. type of tyres play a part but ur balls will still vibrate till all ur family jewels turn to granite.

i heard 18 yr old p plate insurance be prepared to pay 700+ just for 3rd party without firetheft. fire theft would be 1k+

Let me break down my newbie costs for u (passed 2 months ago, got a ktm2 3 weeks ago) only used for light short distance riding, meant for trail.

1 bone stock ktm2 (3000)

ntuc insurance for 1 24yr old sexy handsome male (460)

Transfer fee and 1 yr road tax to LTA pockets (170)

Simple Riding gear, additional security and bike maintainance items (400)

Offroad riding gear (500)

Petrol (usually malaysian) and medium grade 2t (130 p/month)

Restoring bike to good riding condition incl a few servicings sessions (200)

Repairs due to trail falls (yes handsome sexy man does fall too) (80)

holy !@#% now i realize why i have no more money in my account. sigh $4940

in 3 weeks and rising.

ktm2's vibration is ridiculously strong, which means its gonna be uncomfortable for your butt, wr is better. fuel consumption wise as well, but if i'm not wrong pick up for ktm2 is better?

Posted

u should try ktm200 on offroad...... u wont realli feels the vibrations..... ktm are built for offroad use ma not on road use..... Kleivard525 can vouch for it hehe....

Slow nevermind.... Pattern must be nice.... Bike must be BLING...

haha wont FEEL the vibrations off road? Off road everything will vibrate la! I go one day trail on the way back on the smooth road, i can feel my ass still shaking lor haha. then got the watery slippery feeling. like rear wheel is slipping and sliding but actually its just the imagination of my backside.

u dun feel the vibration of the ktm while riding off road that much compared to riding on road.
