any kind souls here can help me..i noe im on the wrong thread, but similar bike..i ve got a shadow 400. my battery went dead, always push starting the bike now. i checked the battery is a yuasa ytx9-bs.. it is a 12 V 9 ah battery.. i was thinking of changing the battery to the TURNTECh 12V 2.5-3ah battery.. is this ok, wil the battery be sufficient enough to crank the starter?

 

and also what if i choose to put battery same 12v but with 10ah(higher than the current one) ?

Could be burnt rec wires.. I kena b4,twice! Wasted money changing batt the first time

Most likely rectifier. What about your headlamps? Bright? If it's still bright and your bike can't start then maybe starter relay/ motor problem..

Used to ride (borrow) a honda cb550 and had to carry extra batt in side bag. Battery can't charge cos rectifier KO then batt become flat again. You might wana have the rectifier and starter motor checked first before changing the battery. New battery only give temp solution if the other parts are faulty.

I had battery problems with my shadow last time. New battery is not the solution. Charger may not be functioning. After I've changed that, no problem for another year.

As claimed, There's a need to drive when we have a Family. But all that is needed to ride is Dream... Many are still dreaming about it.

Yes gmoh, this kind of mod is available here. One of Riot's bike was modded that way.

Did a quick brake pad replacement yesterday.. Dun have much time so didn't clean it,will do it when I got the time..

 

In case anyone here wanna DIY, here's a few pics..

Remove the 2 bolts with 12mm spanner

Pull out the caliper and unscrew the pin at the bottom with a 5mm allen key

Ditch the old pads.. Take not of the position of the 2 shims.. I took this pic b4 cleaning the piston,always clean them b4 pushing them back..

Clean and grease the 2 guide pins..

New pads.. All you need is to put everything back together..

Cut a portion of silicon hose from my daughter's fish tank.. Fill a little brake fluid to prevent air from going into the brake hose when u release the bleeding nipple.. You will need a 8mm spanner..

Wrap some cloth around the pump to avoid spillage.. Brake fluid can ruin ur paint.. Remove the cap pump out the old brake fluid but dun let it run dry.. fill up with fresh fluid till you see clear fluid coming out below..

Get someone or something to depress the lever b4 tightening the bleed nipple.. Pump the brake to see if you got good brake pressure..

 

 

This was how I did it, if I did anything wrong pls contribute so other ppl wun follow my mistake.. I should have done a better job cleaning the caliper,but pads due for change and I got not much time to work on my bike.. o_O
