I am looking at ghost brackets for saddle bag. Wanna know if the distance between the 2 screws on the fender are the same for VLX400 and VLX600?

I measured for vlx400 is 4".

Thanks!!!

Here we go again. Why can't jap bikes use H-D parts? Can H-D riders run Jap parts on their bikes and not be a laughing stock? If someone put a H-D emblem on a Jap bike or try too hard to make it look very Harley like den of cos we'll not be laughing with him but at him. But wat's wrong w modding H-D cans to fit on a Steed? It will definatly not have the potato tune for sure. But if u experiment modding the internals a little it will definatly give u a bassier and louder tone if u do it right. For all I know,he's not gonna use them cos he want to make his bike 'look more Harley' cos he can afford a H-D if he wants one. most ppl who mod bikes uses what ever they think suites the bike they had in mind. To pass off a set of $40 exhaust just because of the fear of sterotypes laughing would be silly IMO.

Ok, for your info, i wont blame you on this, cause i already tried it before, it doesnt really helps or improve any of it sound and performance. Like Plas said, get a bigger cc bike, and that will really help. To actual having the loud exhaust sound will need to be a total hollow and empty pipes, that will bring out the high toning and a little bass sound, but it does lose a perfomance a bit. And for your info, in 1993, im the first steed who number plate FK666, extended fork, 45degree pointed up double slash cut pipes, ape hanger with custom flame air brush painting.

Hi Jiansheng,

Are ghost brackets those that allows you to quick release your saddlebags?

I was using mounted saddlebag brackets for VLX600. they also come with another hole which i reckon that allows you to use it for VSE too. the mounting point for VSE and VLX are slightly apart. But even if don't the find holes to align with your mounting points, you can always drill another hole. :)

As claimed, There's a need to drive when we have a Family. But all that is needed to ride is Dream... Many are still dreaming about it.

Well dude, since you rode and custom a steed before, therefore you should know that the purpose of it all is just about customising it for the sake of doing so. some of us here are late bloomers like myself.

Alamak bro jiansheng, you go ah boy why didn't go aunty shop? Just next door only waaaatttt... :p

Anyway 'Big Brother' CC (we're not worthy), we (myself, T1 and Nomad) just wana try out only mah, that's why it's called a project.. There're other steed riders who are also 'experimenting' but they don't post here so I think it's great that quite a number of us are into it so, as a big brother in steed mods, being the first and all, would be nice for you to give some advice. And it's not like we place 'Harley' decals all over the bike, we still retain the Jap metric look, and I'll b damn proud of my bike if someone asked me if my bike was a Harley..

Commoners call any decent looking cruiser a "Harley" it's what Hollywood has done to the perspective of the people. Very smart marketing strategy. Who cares about the brand, if it looks good then it deserves a Clap.

If you are riding steed, you could find some things you want from aunty shop but go there with a open heart and mind. :p

Ah,if u're still using that plate den I've seen u on the road b4. As for the pipes, even tho u've tried and failed to get better tones out of it doesn't mean it's not possible. I've seen Ferdows Dragstar a nong nong time ago at Arab st,I believe the pipes are done my X-lied. They were loud and bassy. Loud not as in H-D w after market pipes loud, but it's loud and bassy. I'm not good w exhaust, but if X-lied can make me a set that's loud and bassy would u pay for them? Performance wise I already mentioned in previous post here that stock pipes w stock air intake and jetting is the best for this bike. But I wouldn't mind upsizing my jets if someone pays for my pipes. :)

Hi guys. I juz bought over a Steed and i'm loving the bike already.

However, i do have 2 problems that i encounter.

1. The handle bar vibrates quite significantly at 80-90km/h. What could be the cause? It only happens at that speed. Lower speed are fine.

2. Does your steed's morning start up sustainable at a steady rpm? Mine start liao will die off in 2 seconds. Unless i open the throttle and hold onto it. If i were to adjust the idling screw, where can i locate the idling screw?

So many thanx bro.

I am looking forward to meetups with u all to learn more stuffs coz previously i am riding a scooter, so no experience in chain driven and manual bikes at all.

Cheers!!

Vibration usually caused by unbalanced front wheel or loose steering cone bearing. To check just depress ur front brake and push ur bars forward till fork complety depressed. If got 'tok' sound means loose. Front wheel balancing can be done bike shop that has the right equipment. As for engine dying at cold start, try pulling the choke. It's on the left ride near the carb. The idle adjust screw is also there.
