hey guys i need to ask a question.

i am turning 18 this year, and i cant apply for my bike license until my birthday which is in october. however, i am planning on buying a bike first. i am aiming for a phantom 200cc. second hand. i am aware that i am not allowed to own a bike until i am 21, or so i was told. one question i need to ask is can my sister, who is 21, but has no bike license, only car, buy the bike on my behalf, first. then i pay for the seasonal parking and put the bike at the carpark till i get my license?

anyone can enlighten me on this, i have the money to buy the bike, but i am confused over the legal issues regarding this. because i plan to buy my bike first, under my sister's name. must i pay coe and insureance to park my bike? and in the first place can my sis buy the bike under her name? lastly, can she buy the bike for me without a bike license?

dude

2nd hand phantoms are everywhere

it would be 300% better for u to go for yr class 2B lessons 1st and get hold of a licence before u start to aim for a bike

reasons being:

- there is no value-added to yrself for keeping a bike unused in the carpark

- why tie yrself down with the cost of maintenance (e.g. parking fees, insurance premium, road tax, etc) before u even fully commit yrself to riding a Phantom? what if after u passed yr licence and suddenly u realise other model of bikes are more attractive to u?

well, just offering my 2 cents worth of opinion.

anyway can try calling 1800-CALL-LTA to check with them with regards to whether a non-2B licence holder can own a 2B bike and whats the procedures like.

:goodluck:

to all experts in insurance thingy. got one ques here

my current insurance will end mid feb next month. however i already paid for the new insurance that means 07/08 ones where i bought 3rdparty fire and theft. however i though of changing just to a normal 3rd party without the fire and theft.

so can i change party from the 3rd PFNT to a normal 3rd party?

will i get the full amount back if i managed to cancel the 3rd PFNT as my policy haven take effect(which is nex month)?

thanks

about a question

point ...

1) When you are transfering a bike, the party u are transfering to must have insurance.

so if the buyer gets a new set of insurance for e.g my bike fbz1a and i already got a set of insurance for fbz1a.

Must i terminate mine before he can make a insurance for the bike.

If dont need doesnt mean there is 2 insurance for the bike n 4 pple can ride it?

If cant when u terminate already means from the point of terminate u cannot ride ur bike and only the buyer can ride it?

Good and bad is just the difference between perceptions.

yes. for a period of a few days, there can be 2 insurance policies running concurrently for the same motorbike

the keypoint here is 'a few days' and it will remain as 'a few days' because:

1. no buyer would want to buy the insurance so early in advanced before the actual date of transfer cause he wouldnt be utilising the insurance in between that waiting period

2. after transfer is completed, no buyer would wan to let the seller continue riding the bike. this one needs no explaination

3. no seller would wan to continue keeping the insurance for the bike he has already sold if he can be entitled to some form of a rebate/refund for the unused portion of the insurance coverage frm the insurer

when kena stopped at by TP or other authorities, they are able to check out if the name of the vehicle owner matches the name of the main rider on the insurance certificate.

i believe they are still able to give u some grace time to ride the bike home to park immediately after the ownership transfer, provided u have yet to cancel yr insurance for the bike.

I was wondering that as a sub rider, do I have to pay the insurance for one whole year or I can pay for just one mth? My friend told me it can be done for just a mth insurance and it is from NTUC insurance. hmmm....

Need to ask, is AXA's quote cheapest among the others like NTUC & Mitsui? There's no difference for the 3rd party insurance quoted by respective company right? Sorry to ask but I need to confirm since I'm new to get a bike...

Current bike : Wave R From Feb '07..

what's the average premium for a rider aged 21, going for 3rd party, most prob aiming a wr200 scrambler?

does nationality comes into play with regards to the premium?

Heard some rumours that Mitsui cannot extend (for 2-3 months) insurance already..Must extend 1 year then if don't want anymore just terminate..True?

09/07/2009 - Passed 2B TP (10th attempt)

I have tried to see things from your point of view..But no matter how hard I try..Or what I do..I just can't get my head that far up my butt..
