Hi guyz, I need help. My lan connection keep disabling itself automatically and its really annoying. When I'm surfing the net or downloading files, the network connection just get cut off and I have to manually enable the lan connection back. Anyone have encounter this before and know the solution. Thanks a million in advanced...

Are you using wireless? If you are, the signal may not be strong enough. If you are connected directly to the modem, it maybe due to 1. the modem is the cause or 2. the line is having the problem.

Others that I can think of is a virus that keeps disabling your network connections.

are you running any power management on the lan cards?

cos to save power... it'll disable alot of drivers... which your LAN Driver (be it wireless or wired) will be disabled...

resulting in lose connections.

isit internal (on board LAN) or external (3rd party LAN)

if internal LAN card/wireless device, try re-install driver.

if external (3rd party) card/wireless device, test it on other machine.

coz i just exchanged my SMC wireless, keep dropping, failed to connect, so many problems :(

so far the new one they exchanged for me is ok.

Zasrock: Just to check, do you have that animated "blinking computers" icon on the bottom right of the screen?

If you do, when you say "Disabling itself", do you mean that the "blinking computers" will stop blinking and show a red "X"...like somebody has plugged out the LAN cable?

Hi all, thanks for the reply.. disabling its not the same as plugging the cable out. Its like when you do a right click on the lan connection and disable it. I have to double click on the network icon to enable it and it work.

Virus.. I don't think so cause the laptop is freshly installed. It could be ip conflict cause I have a friend who mention something to do with window sp2..

Will try it out asap. Thanks again..
