I'll try to answer, but please correct me if I'm wrong..

Open pod only works well at high revs.. I haven't driven too many CVT cars, but the Latio I test drove last time didn't rev too much even when I floor the accelerator.. So if you install open pod on such cars u end up with very very sluggish respond.. Cos u need the back pressure..

As for the air charger, it only works for low revs.. Cos the air moves much faster den the fan can turn during high revs.. End up restricting the air flow.. Think Strong Eagle mentioned this b4..

All things being equal, when you replace your stock air-box type filter system to an open pod, you will gain some high-end performance but lose some low-end performance because open-pod works better at high rpm.

An open pod filter is only beneficial if installed correctly. There will not be any benefit if the open pod filter sucks alot of hot air in the engine bay. So the open pod must be shielded from the heat in the engine bay, and have access to cooler air from outside.

i'm curious.... hot or cold air.. what difference does it make?

the idea of more air is for combustion...

hot air has less oxygen?

density of air is proportionate to its temperature, so cooler air has a higher density of air molecules than hot air for a given volume.

Similar to sailing. For the same wind speed, you will go faster in colder country.
