Should Motorize Bicycle be ride on the road??
ThePole replied to West Spec's topic in Biking in Singapore
E-bike has to be registered with LTA to ride. Yahoo!!! -
it is oredi very obvious that in the future, motorbikes are NOT in their transport plan. Therefore, for the bikers to give up their bikes they must increase the efficiency of public transport. However, buses are congested BECAUSE cars quota never drop, probably some rich people haggled for it; as for MRT, no thanks to Ms Soh, the whole thing is in a mess. the gahmen shd quickly solve the 2 problems before squeezing the lower income group, but alas, end up with a widening divide and 3 major problems. by the time bike coe reached $10k and Malaysian kubkias are king of the road, I think there will be a 4th problem looming.

it is kind of stupid that in the future, we see only Malaysian kupkias running on the road, and all Singaporean bikers are on million $ bikes. sigh...

Should Motorize Bicycle be ride on the road??
ThePole replied to West Spec's topic in Biking in Singapore
In the first place, motorized bicycle is not normal. There is nothing governing it (age limit, skills etc) and most of those on sale have too much power. It is approaching lawlessness for these. Until the authorities can rein in all these, motorized bicycle should be off the road by all means. If you want to ride, either go for bicycle for leisure, short distance travel or motorbike. Period. -

Support a class 2C for them. All the motorized bicycle riders are callous to say the least. without legal intervention, they are menance to everyone. -
The problem with the jam is the checkpoint just cannot cater for the traffic. when I was a kid, the causeway was that capacity. Now, it is still THAT capacity. Look at how the Malaysian side has re and re-renovated their Causeway. What the fxxk is it with the gahmen that cant even improvise the gateway to Singapore??? Is Singapore so damn poor? Further, the officers are all fxxked up. See the gatecrash incidents and you know what **** that was employed.

Petition for Inprovements to Checkpoint Traffic
ThePole replied to NinjaLite's topic in Biking in Singapore
The main problem is ICA over emphasis on solving jam due to cars. They widen roads for cars, open ways for cars - to the extent of closing some bike lanes just to let car pass. Don't get me started on the small little lane heading to JB. What do they get in return? 3 or 4 stupid people ram pass them and make them lose face. by the way, 2 more improvements - 1. Fix the #$#%^&*(* useless thumbprint machines. Never once is all fully functional. Always some spoilt. Please sack the contractors and call for some better contractors. How can so many failure at any time?? 2. Have more police to patrol the roads leading to the checkpoints. a lot of kuku cars/buses don't seem to heck care and dash out. at least a few accidents had happened. But we ONLY see enforcement at where? NO WHERE! -
I pity the disabled who need the motorcycle as their mode of transport.

hi bro, need some advice. my rxz had a piston jam and was towed to a motordiam. it was repaired with a change of block. motordiam told me to run in by going at 70-80 kph max and keep it under 5 rpm. forgot to ask for how long. now dam sian riding like an old uncle.

sorry for hijacking this thread, but being a regular rider across the Woodlands Causeway, I have only 2 things to say abt the so-called traffic police there - under staffed, wrongly placed. there is practically nobody before the viaduct, where a lot of numbskull cagers doing last minute queue jumping, drifting etc. seen a few accidents happen there. where were the police to catch those stupid cagers? then leading to the bike queues, some officers will open here close there like playing mouse and cat game, some sheepish Malaysian kubkia will wait for them to open the gate to the shorter queue, end up piling up the traffic behind. the same go for entry side. sometime, looking at those arrogant looks makes my blood boiled.

Recent news on cyclists having accidents
ThePole replied to Chatterbox's topic in TCSS Kopitiam Corner
Actually, all these cycling thing are trend, probably brought about due to some craze. Very soon, those pampered lots will decide to drive in their comfy cars. I can't help wonder if there is a bicycle lane, are they willing to cycle with the foreign cyclists? -
As you know, the Malaysian side of the Causeway is currently undergoing renovation or sort. As a result, the pathways had been narrowed significantly at the entry side. However, I have noticed that many Singaporean biker groups who probably having some outings tends to stop indiscriminately along the pathways out of the immigation booth. This is very dangerous and selfish. So guys, if you are having an outing, how about meeting at say, some coffee shop or other safe place, rather than within the Causeway, especially where those Malaysian kupkia are riding dangerously treating it as F1 circuit.

Reason for biker & motorcylist to be happy compared against CAR !
ThePole replied to lv3338's topic in TCSS Kopitiam Corner
It also happens to many old uncles and aunties who pass their license years ago and started driving a merc or BMW their son/daughter bought them or from their CPF money. This is happening CURRENTLY. Mind you, many of them drove into the drains, into ppl house etc. On the other hand, since there will be stages for car license, how many people are able to take 3B, 3A and 3 , assume this is the tier class system? Perhaps, by the time they get Class 3, they are more matured when they first got 3B. How about that as counter argument. -
Today while riding to work on Comonwealth Avenue West. Shock to find that traffic jam starting from way before Singapore Polytechnic. Lucky can lane split or will be terribly late for work. Not sure why all 3 lanes are taken up by slow lorries. WTF.
-
One more, please do not think you can beat the traffic light by racing across when it is red. Sillyporeans cyclists are even worse than Bangla riders in many instances that I notice. ah, you have encountered the infamous jaguar lady. really do not know how on earth did she get her license.

If the statisticians in LTA are counting 1 bike COE = 1 car COE, then they better go back to primary. I think it is more likely for the following to be going on secretly and quietly: - By reducing the quota for bikes, they are allowing HDB / URA to eat up the bike slots so that the grouse for car parks, which most probably account for significant amount of votes, reduces. - It is more possible that the business bikes are sufficient in replacement. if they eliminate those free radicals like you and I who do not want to be bound to public transport, then we will have to go by taxis/buses etc and increase their coffers.

Question to ponder: Where do you think those complaints against motorcyclists are coming from and what do those people drive?

i saw motorised bicycles a few times. dunno what's the regulations. regardless, negotiating the treacherous Malaysian custom with all these pests are damn irritating. Once when i was heading towards the Jalan Tebrau side, all the bikes had to use the curvy 1st lane, and worst still, TRAILING a @#$%^%& cyclist struggling to go up hill. seriously, bicycles should be given their own lane. it is just that both customs are cheapo, with the Singapore side being cheapo-er. sigh...

Do you think the Lee Dynasty will continue?
ThePole replied to bluelabel's topic in TCSS Kopitiam Corner
China Tang Dynasty (618 - 907AD, Surname:Lee) - 20 emperors, Vietnam Ly Dynasty (1010-1225AD. Surname: Ly, Lee in Viet) - 10 emperors, Korean Choson Dynasty (1398-1910AD, Surname: Lee as well) - almost 40 emperors. They have ruled almost the whole of East Asia. P.S. heard that LKY is the 20th descendant of the last emperor of the Tang Dynasty. -
a few points to ponder for this GE: regarding the ruling party 1. something is terribly wrong with PAP's selection system to let so many outstanding individuals fall over to the oppositions, while they are getting TPL?... 2. LKY is as shrewd as ever. but it seems that no one in the party listen to him. so much so he had to use scare tactics to scare the voters of Aljunied. apparently, it was just too late. 3. there is a growing religion aura among some of the candidates which does not bode too well for Sinagpore's future. Yes, perhaps gay issue is a problem, but has anyone forgotten about AWARE, the over zealous episode? The oppositions 1. the oppositions are so varied in their policies. if NSP were elected as well, we might see that WP and NSP will be at each other throats. Where is the charismatic opposition leader of Singapore who are able to unite all under one vision. it seems so far away from even Malaysian politics 2. chiam see tong and low thia khiang cannot be more than a world apart. One is able to engage more potential candidates while the other, well... The results are not exactly surprising.
