Hi all,

This morning i was being stopped by a TP on dunearn road around 910am while otw to work. Running late, supposed to reach at 830am.

According to his reading (some display unit on his motorcycle), i was travelling at 108kmph which i then went back to office and refer to my camera and saw that i was at 90+ max 100kmph. I didn't argue with TP and apologized to him as i was still above the road limit of 70kmph.

He then pointed out that i switched lanes without signalling and its considered as inconsiderate driving. Reviewed my recorded footage and what i saw was that i checked my blind and switched lanes without signalling.

Can he summon me for both offences commited together ?

Since according to his speed device, i'm at 108 kmph. that makes me liable for a summon of 8 points + $170,

Inconsiderate driving is 6 points and $150.

Total 14 points & $290!

my 2A TP is in August and it would suck not being able to take it due to the demerit points issued.

Can i appeal to them about my speed because i have video recording that i'm above the speed limit for up to 30kmph and liable for 6 points and $150 instead of the hefty 8 points.

It's my first time having any traffic offences (besides parking ones).

Of course i hope the TP just gives me a warning about the signalling since i didn't really give him any problems throughout the entire process. He only gave me a lecture on whats right and wrong before asking me to wait for the letter.

You should have plead with the TP to let you off the signalling since you are already booked for speeding. But whatever's done cannot be undone, now all you can do is to wait for that envelope. Hopefully, he change his mind and book you for the speeding nia.

And what if ppl here tell you cannot appeal? Then you give up appealing? I'd say pen your appeal immediately. This concern your 2A license le don't ever give up without trying. Lastly, wish you de best of luck...

At the end of the Convo between the TP and I, he only mentioned about the inconsiderate driving charges. And ask me to ride safely.

He didn't mention anything about speeding after showing me his reading of my speed. He figured I was rushing to work (office wear, constantly checking the time) 😂😂

I have a camera mounted on my helmet to protect myself incase of reckless drivers and always practice defensive riding... just one of the rare occasions that I happened to be riding faster than usual and lane changing without signal.

Just do up the appeal and submit your video.

Legislatively, they cant do away the no signalling charge. Its government thingy.

Speed wise, if you submitted yours, and the TP are willing to accept your video. Then you are better off. If not, because of legislative again. The equipments are calibrated with a 10km/hr allowance accuracy. (And its actually suppose to measure your speed lessor.) So that will be contentious.

Bro. GPS reading is slower than actual speed as GPS signal are sending both way up n down from the GPS satellites. Readings of actual speed n GPS speed have a difference of 8 to 10 Km/h. So what TP caught u and your video speed sounds right.

You are correct till here

as GPS signal are sending both way up n down from the GPS satellites.

Gps is a passive device ie. It's a receiver so it doesn't send any thing out

Readings of actual speed n GPS speed have a difference of 8 to 10 Km/h.

Gps speed is about as accurate as you can get. Manufacturers intentionally make their vehicles speedo optimistic ie. speedo reading is faster than you are traveling, to avoid unnecessary law suits and other legality reasons.
