most router for home users are wireless these days, and a normal one won't cost u more than $100.

ur laptop must be wifi-enabled.

ur 2 desktops, if same room, u can do it wired. if wireless, guess u need to purchase USB adapter for EACH THAT U WAN TO GO WIRELESS. i guess one ard 40+??

*How much a router cost?

Depending on brand (made in China, or name brand),

or on the features it has, prices may range from $80 to $400

*Isit easy to install?

Some of them are.

But in reality, networking all together can sometimes be a hair-tearing experience. My advise is when you buy the nicest router which claims to be "easy to setup" printed on the box, read the manual thoroughly and understand how computers should be setup to be successfully networked together

*Which brand better?

Name brands and something that's stylish, such as Netgear

Powerful and fully featured ones such as Linksys (Linksys is now called "Cisco" because both companies have merged)

Something simple, such as Belkin

(One note though , I have never had good experiences with SMC routers.)

*Any wireless router?

Of course!

You need to look at the packaging, my friend, to see whether it's wireless capable or not.

Coming forth with a vague question like this, I think you'd probably need help in computer networking (and I understand you as well).

To choose what you want, ask yourself these questions:

Did Starhub give you (and install) a free cable modem?

If so, then you have 2 choices:

1. Buy a Wireless Router, turn it on, and connect it to your Starhub-provided Cable Modem

2. Keep/give away/throw away that modem, and buy an all-in-one Cable Modem cum Wireless Router.

===========

Once that's done, you need to make sure that your end computers are Wireless (WiFi) enabled:

1. Laptops - All "Intel Centrino" -branded and newer AMD laptops already have Wireless capabilities.

If not, check your laptop's documentation to see whether it has.

If really confirm don't have, follow step 2.

2. Desktops - Only a few desktop computers have Wireless. If your desktop confirm don't have, follow what PinkChick has said:

ur 2 desktops, if same room, u can do it wired.

if you really want both of them to go wireless instead, guess u need to purchase USB adapter for EACH THAT U WAN TO GO WIRELESS. i guess one ard 40+??

This is what a Wireless USB Adaptor looks like. You plug this into any end computer and it becomes Wireless capable
