I remembered when I told my fren that Kewell's move to Pool was good for Pool but bad for Kewell, cos Houllier normally forced his creative players to be less creative e.g. Smicer, Berger. My fren gave me the "LOOK" as a hard-core Pool fan will do. Recently I told him the same thing, and he kept quiet and has the agree-with-me-look. Kewell is 50% the player he was... and not mainly due to injuries. Point is that the truth (OR THE KELONG REF) will prevail and not use your feelings to argue just because you are a MU, Pool or RM fan. No end leh... like two adults arguing whether it is better to wear green or yellow t-shirts...

I agree that without MU and Barca, and so many underdogs, CL seems to loose a bit of a glow. Btw I am not a MU fan, but a long-time Gunner, so please don't shoot me for supporting MU or Barca hor... did u see how Ronaldino play? Much more magical than Robben wor...

Also, with three italian teams ard, wah-kou.... really sleep inducing.

But watching Pool is much ( power 10) better than Bal Khalsa... :bouncefire:

Seems that there are a lot of Liverpool fans doing the polls :thumb:

But did you see how Chelsea play???? I hate Chelsea, but they are really a class above Pool. No offence to the thousands of Pool fans. The good news is that the Pool standard is improving though...

:goodluck: I going for AC and Chelsea.:help: don't shoot me.... kekeke

The best 2 teams are AC and Chelsea.

But AC i more balance throughout the field.

Chelsea's striker is a letdown.

I really like to see ronaldo or hengry in BLues.

i'm a liverpool fan too but i think they do exceptionally well in europe.... seen the levekusen game? class man...

i've watched the games last night... chelsea is really strong with lampard around all the long shots are really dangerous... so i hope that bayern will win chelsea!! haha.. so that liverpool won't have to meet them...

anyway, man u? what's man u? :cheeky:

Did anybody notice Mourinho cheating last nite? He was not supposed to be in contact with the bench, but the media really was something.... kekeke.

Saw the fitness instructor wearing a hat and covering the ears... should have some microphone, I think. Why wear beany when not too cold? Hmm.... and Clarke seems to be involved in discussion with "THE FITNESS INSTRUCTOR" all the time....

Morinho is good with tactics, but when it comes to sportsmanship....:nono:

yes.

the standard argument is always people want exciting play.

But does anyone realize its the result that matters in the end?

A team playing a simple game and winning a 1-nil scoreline every game will always be better than a team producing exciting play but unable to capitalize on it with only draws or losses.

You can produce exciting play. But exciting play wun earn you trophies or the cash.

My best fren (a harcore Spurs fan) always loves to lambast me with his "boring Liverpool" chants. Well, at least we're not scratching away at mid-table. :p

But if you saw the match against Juve, you will not believe it was "boring Liverpool" playing. The fast movement, the slick passes and coordinated attack. Juventus never had a chance to wake up from the kick-off. It was only a 2nd-half blunder by the Under-21 England keeper Scott Carson (though I dun blame him) that allowed Juve to pull one back. Otherwise, the entire Juve attack was being smothered.....

yeah man... it was a pulsating first half for liverpool even though they died down in the second but i guess i'm starting to enjoy the moments where they just attacked and tackled and fight!!! :lovestruck:

and no blames for scott carson, he stopped a shot in the first half.. if that ball had gone in, it would have been a different ball game man... disappointed with the away goal but well, liverpool still won... :cheer:

Chelsea deny any Mourinho contact

Chelsea refused to enter into a debate over whether fitness coach Rui Faria was receiving telephone messages during the game from banned manager Jose Mourinho.

Mourinho's trusted lieutenants Baltemar Brito and Steve Clarke were aided by Faria as Chelsea seized control of the Champions League quarter-final with a 4-2 win against Bayern Munich.

Rarely has a fitness coach had such an integral say on team affairs but Faria seemed to be involved in most decisions.

Wearing a hat on a relatively mild evening, television cameras showed him repeatedly sharing his thoughts with Clarke and Brito, who were seated in front of him. Maybe he was just translating between the manager's two assistants.

Chelsea declined to comment after match. The club's director of communications Simon Greenberg, who accompanied Mourinho's assistant Brito to the post-match press conference, said: 'We have heard nothing from UEFA and have nothing to say about that. We are not going to get into a debate over it.'

Greenberg would not divulge Mourinho's location during the game but Brito denied there had been any contact with the coach during the tie and added that he had been sorely missed.

Brito said: 'There was not contact at all. We prepared for this game last week and the last time I saw him was two or three hours before kick-off. I have not spoken to him or seen him since.

'It was quite tough without him on the bench. His presence is very important for us and he was sorely missed.'

But Brito did concede that Michael Ballack's last minute penalty had left them frustrated ahead of next Tuesday's return leg in Munich.

Brito added: 'Obviously when you are winning 4-1 to concede a goal towards the end of the match is very frustrating. But I am not angry with the players.

'I feel we have the team that can get through with the two goal lead. We prepare well and we played fantastic. We also scored four goals again.'

Joe Cole's deflected shot, off Lucio, handed Chelsea the lead and though Bastian Schweinsteiger equalised, Frank Lampard struck twice - both stunning goals - before Drogba made it 4-1, only for Ballack to pull one back from the spot.

German coach Felix Magath said that Ballack's goal had given his side hope of overturning the two-goal deficit in Munich.

Magath said: 'It was good to get the goal before the end - it has given us hope. We will also hopefully have some of our other players back for the return game.

'We had difficulty coping with the high balls and it was disappointing to concede four goals. This was an exception for us tonight. Normally we cope with high balls but I also thought the referee was not for us tonight.

'I am also sure that Didier Drogba was offside for their first goal. We knew Frank Lampard was a class player and he got two goals that I hope he won't be able to repeat next week.'

One of the players Magath is hoping to get back for the rematch is striker Roy Makaay. He was expected to be in the line-up against Chelsea but Magath explained why he was left out.

He added: 'I thought he was going to play up until this afternoon. The doctor had cleared him to play but the player said he was still in pain with the injury and so I decided it was too risky to play him. Hopefully he will be fit for the weekend.'

This Mourinho, rich in knowledge but poor in integrity. Potential to be a good crook  He overstepped the line for mind games, like accusing officals and tapping to affect results. This is no matter what a sport, but w/o the sportsmanship.... :nono:

juz to add abt the point on the beanie thing...

hw do u guys noe its not cold? based on the paper reports?

its subjective. the fitness coach cld hav a lower threshold for cold, whereas the reporter cld hav a higher threshold for cold.i mean, rite now, im in germany, not too far of from england. i myself wear the beanie too... coz my ears do feel the chill. esp when its breezy..

im nt a chelsea fan.. n not siding him.

Chelsea cleared over contact claims

UEFA today confirmed Chelsea have been cleared over suggestions that fitness coach Rui Faria received telephone messages from banned coach Jose Mourinho during their Champions League game against Bayern Munich.

Spokesman Frits Ahlstrom revealed that the Premiership leaders would not face any investigation following the first-leg tie at Stamford Bridge which Chelsea won 4-2 thanks to goals from Joe Cole, Didier Drogba and Frank Lampard, who netted twice.

Faria appeared to have an unusually high input into team affairs last night and television cameras showed him repeatedly sharing his thoughts with Mourinho's assistants Baltemar Brito and Steve Clarke.

But UEFA have cleared the club of any mobile phone trickery following the customary post-match debriefing.

Ahlstrom said: 'I can confirm that UEFA has nothing to report about any incidents of any kind during the match. The club statement is correct.'

The statement to which Ahlstrom refers was delivered by Chelsea's director of communications Simon Greenberg shortly before midnight last night.

It declared that UEFA had given Chelsea the all-clear over any alleged telephone contact between Mourinho and the bench.

At the post-match press conference, Brito denied there had been any such conversations.

Brito said: 'There was no contact at all. We prepared for this game last week and the last time I saw him was two or three hours before kick-off. I have not spoken to him or seen him since.

'It was quite tough without him on the bench. His presence is very important for us and he was sorely missed.'

While all the talk centred once again on events off the pitch, Chelsea's players rallied to calls from skipper John Terry to produce a first-leg victory for their boss.

They were given the best possible start when Cole's 18-yard shot found its way beyond the stranded Oliver Kahn - courtesy of a deflection from Bayern defender Lucio.

Chelsea had numerous chances to increase their lead in the opening 45 minutes while Bayern striker Ze Roberto wasted their best effort by firing wide following a mistake by Glen Johnson.

But the game sprang to life in the 52nd minute when the Germans grabbed an equaliser. Petr Cech, so often the saviour for the Londoners this season, spilled a shot from Ze Roberto and substitute Bastian Schweinsteiger pounced to tuck home the rebound.

But even without the mercurial Mourinho in the dugout, Chelsea mounted a ferocious fightback and seven minutes later, England midfielder Lampard had put them back in front when he sent a low drive beyond the despairing Kahn.

Ten minutes later Chelsea increased their advantage when Lampard swivelled perfectly to control Claude Makelele's cross and fire a half-volley into the net.

The Londoners must have thought the tie was almost in the bag when Drogba forced the ball home for their fourth 10 minutes from time.

But Ricardo Carvalho's tug on Michael Ballack in the last moments of added time gave the German midfielder the chance to reduce the arrears from the penalty spot, and he made no mistake.

Brito conceded that it had been frustrating to concede a goal at such a late stage with Chelsea cruising to a notable victory.

He added: 'Obviously when you are winning 4-1 to concede a goal towards the end of the match is very frustrating. But I am not angry with the players.'

Bayern coach Felix Magath said that Ballack's goal had raised his side's chances of overturning the two-goal deficit in Munich.

He said: 'It was good to get the goal before the end - it has given us hope. We will also hopefully have some of our other players back for the return game.

'We had difficulty coping with the high balls and it was disappointing to concede four goals. This was an exception for us tonight. Normally we cope with such tactics.'

Magath hopes to have strikers Roy Makaay and Claudio Pizarro back for the return game in Munich.

2 reasons why physio wear earpiece...

1. of cos the cynical one..he's communicating with manager...

2. when players are down on pitch...he runs on to check on them...if need to make sub...he will just comms back to bench...and if that player sent to dressing room for treatment..bench will be updated too lor
