Hi to everyone out there..

I've been reading quite a bit but still new to this forum.

Just got my 2B license on Thursday and am considering my options on getting a Pulsar.

Just got a few concerns over getting Pulsar hope you Pulsar-ians can perhaps give me some advise.

1. Since so little shops carry Pulsar, do u guys have difficulties finding spare parts for it. Or perhaps, shops that carry them jack up the priceS? Or also maybe, have to wait quite a bit for parts to be importeD?

2. I've checked around UBI and realised only S1 Motoring in UBI sells them. Anyone know of this shop and have any comments on it?

Thanks everyone in advance..

hi, i have been riding for 1.5 yrs. so far no spare part problems. i once asked for the flasher unit for pulsar. they have it to my surprise. i asked from universal. since pulsar is brought in by them, it is natural for most buyers to get the bike from them. this is also wat i suggest

No more regrets.

The short one with slight incline? yes.

Say, you think you can fabricate an allu switch holder that i can screw on the IU mount? I've mounted my hazard light switch on the IU bracket... and its pretty hard to hit the switch.

Piaggio Vespa GT 200L (2009 - 2011)

So monday, i help u get the holder first. As for the position of the switch... I suggest having it mounted beside the started switch...

Currently i have it mounted beside the horn switch... but dun quite like tat position... perhap you can call me and we arrange a day for meetup to do this DIY...

Thx paiseh..

Another thing is that I saw somewhere else stating:

--> problem occurs mainly due to new riders not being accustomed to the increased stopping power of the disc-brakes

--> With the short handlebar, narrow seat, big fuel tank with knee recesses only for short riders

For myself, I'm standing 1.78m will it pose any problems/discomfort on riding this ride?

And, whats the increased stopping power of the disc brakes about?

I personally like drum brakes. disc brake has better braking effects but very likely to skid during e brake situation becoz usually inexperienced riders will just brake all the way. drum brake acts as a "ABS".

regarding your height, it is still acceptable. im 1.7m. 8cm is quite a lot but the rear suspension can be adjusted. there are 5 clicks. im on click 1. (softest). u can adjust to click 5 (hardest and also increases the seat height to around 3cm ++). however take note the riding will not be as comfortable becoz suspension is hard.

I agree with Paiseh. Got my Pulsar from Universal. No spare parts problems for me too so far. Even if u buy ur Pulsar fr a dealer, they will still refer u to Universal for servicing/repairs they can't handle or spare parts they dun have.

Universal's Pulsar price is higher than most dealers, but not by much. But their sales & aftersales service is :thumb:

whats the increased stopping power of the disc brakes about?

Did he mean 2B training bikes have no front disc brake, but the Pulsar has front disc brake? The Pulsar has the same brake set-up (front disc, rear drum) as the 2B training bikes in driving ctrs.

Or did he mean the front disc brake of the Pulsar is much powerful than 2B training bikes' front disc brake? Then shouldn't this be a positive thing? In fact, some Pulsar riders feel that the Pulsar's brakes are not gd enough and are thinking of changing to rear disc brake for increased braking power.

The Pulsar is a naked bike, with similar set-up like the 2B training bikes in driving ctrs. So generally speaking, the transition from 2B training bikes to Pulsar is fairly easy for new riders.

Thx everyone for the advise..

I guess I will go down to Universal to check it out.. pricing and all..

Any idea whether Universal is opened today?

Also, anythings do I have to take note when checking out the pricing and all?

aha!.. super four on the way?? hee

To be honest, did think of getting S4. Then set my mind on getting GSR in mid-Dec. But with each passing day, feels harder to let my Pulsar go. Been taking really gd care of it, done few mods here n there. In return, it has served me well. I can swear that sometimes I even felt my bike performing better than b4. Maybe it's just me. Maybe my bike knows I intend to get rid of it so that's y it's been extra gd to me to persuade me to not sell it.

Yes, who doesn't wanna have a bigger bike? To me, it's a question of wat I want vs wat I need. In this case, 'wat I need' wins. Furthermore, the extra costs I gotta fork out to buy n maintain a bigger bike can be used for so many other things instead.

Closed on Sundays.

Universal's pricing is transparent. The quotation given by David the sales guy will include everything; no hidden costs. Just dun forget to ask for freebies like helmet, rain suit (maybe rain shoes too) , bike cover, P-plates, box, crash bar, 5 free servicings (including engine oil) and watever else u think u can squeeze out of them.

Dun wori, David does read this thread. U can quote my nick too when u bargain with him.
