last time drz got only yellow.

then come out black, blue, white...........

wr250f is legal on the road. lta given the green light already.

 

 

Are you refering to the 07' and 08' wr250F model?

You're sure it's approved for road use in sg?

(why HL didn't bring it in too?)

 

 

Or you're talking about the old 05' wr250F model?

(Yes, this one's approved, but no more stock in sg)

guys..

 

recently i've been readin abt the wr250x in supermotojunkie and it looks like the bike is a blast.. so in love wif the bike now..

 

but the biggest prob to date now is from wat i noe the price without insurance is 15k.. and tat is way WAYYYYYY overpriced.. the wr250x is retailin for less then 10k sgd in the us and japan.. i'd like hong leong to noe 5k diff is rubbish and foolish..

 

currently the drz is like 13k.. and is oredi dominatin the market.. how is anyone goin to buy a bike tat has 150cc less and costs 2k more.. crazy la..

Machine price of the bike in japan is ard 9.7k. Its a new bike of cos it will be higher. DRZ400 SM is a repackaging of DRZ400 S. I still remember when DRZ400 E model first cam out selling at 14.5 k on the road. As time goes by this model of bike is getting cheaper because they had cover the cost of R&D.

 

Its been a few years that japan had not roll out any new street legal scrambler, until the introduction of Tricker and XT250X, and this brand new WR250R and X.

heard from a fren tat the wr250x is goin for 12.5k machine at alexandra.. but i've kinda given up the idea of gettin one becos simply cant afford another bike..

 

and i'm waitin for the jap manufacturers to come out wif 450 motards.. heh heh heh.. now TAT shld be crazy to ride..

wr250x is CONFIRM faster den DRZ lol... and lesser fuel consumtion... and hup hin motor @ bukit merah lane is selling it at 13 - 14k if i nt wrong insurance included =D

 

Wr250x = 90+mph

DRZ400S = 80+mph... read if from da web =D

Current Ride:

 

01/12/07 : Tw200 (end 06)

06/05/08 : KTM200

31/12/08 : KTM400

perhaps higher top speed due to the additional one more overdrive gear.. (wr250x has 6 gears while the drz has 5).. but i believe the drz has more power n torque..

 

from wat i read in supermotojunkie forum.. after comparin the 2 bikes.. the WR has better handling.. and to me.. realli nice stylin..

Stock is good...Choose your weapon wisely and enjoy it...you can have all the $$$$ to mod and in the end you can't make full use of it....

today i went to view da WR250X.. at bukit merah... its really cool.. and i love drz too.. but when da mech told me all da drz has da same problem... which is da GEAR SHAFT CRACKS! and very hard to find in singapore gotta order... which turns me off and nw looking at WR250X instead LOL!!!!... yeah its kinda overpriced... gotta get it SOON after i get my class 2A lol...

05' and 06' are same model (steel frame)

07' and 08' are same model (alloy frame)

 

What we see on sg roads are the 05/06 model, and indeed they are rare.

 

You claimed that the 08' WR250F is LTA approved. What's your source?

This is the exact same thing I am considering right now...

 

According to the info I gathered so far... the price diff is abt $2K+- (for stock new bikes)

 

Basically here are the things that are different... FYI... all the information below are from the Internet... so pls don't flame me for incorrect info

 

0. WR 250cc........ DRZ 400cc

1. WR at 15K+...... DRZ at 13K

2. WR with EFI...... DRZ with carb

3. WR with alu frame...... DRZ with steel frame

4. WR with 30- horse...... DRZ with 40- horse

 

I guess the major attraction is the EFI...

 

To my understanding...

EFI -> similar to cars... much less maintenance I believe (at least compared to my KTM 2:cry: )

EFI -> self correct air/fuel ratio due to the atmospheric effects... of course if optimized, the weather will affect visibily (knocking and all that)

EFI -> easier to tune (if software and manual are readily available)

 

and since the new R1 is using the EFI system too, I believe it works fine on the WR-X

 

$2000 for a new tech? It's really very personal

so it all boils down whether you want

 

- lesser maintenance with average power (WRX)

 

or

 

- normal traditional maintenance with more power (DRZ)
