Hi all, I have a female friend, who is currently having difficulty in handling her bike. She is quite small in size and when she stops, only one of her legs can 'touch' the ground. She had her seat cut but the condition does not improved.

I need advice from the experts here as to whether can the Spec III be lowered further ie any mods to other parts of the bike ie the suspension etc. Your advice will be greatly appreciated. Thank you in advance...

maybe cut the fork?? hehehe

maybe she can adjust her fork (adjuster knob at the top, not lowering the triple clam) and the rear suspension rebound (using the suspension hook tool found in the tool kit)... by doin so, the bike ht is still the same but will drop abit more when she rides it due to the weight... easier way is for her to wear platform shoes but then muz up abit the gear shifter level... hope it helps...

speaking from exp... (I'm short too), I've tried the above mention but doesn't help much, at least to me. can't down fork too as it will hit my header if there's a hump. so, i always wear shoes with thicker sole.

A suggestion is to ask ur friend to go for leg extension???? Increase the legs height?

Anyway it is not good to modify too much of the original settings. This may affect the bike's stability and may cause damage to other parts. Maybe can put weights in the box compartment to help with the lowering of the suspension. Or maybe change to a not so strong springs?

Lucky not GSR...if GSR confirm cannot touch the ground hhahah.

scraping of bellypan is it due to the fixture is too low? i can see that some belly pans are really too while some are fix high..different positioning ya..

fixing bellypan too high will also scape it, not at the bottom but at the sides.. those track goers will most probably experience it.. most will take out their belly pan before track session..

for my bellypan, i believe is the lowest mounted one.. i live with it.. just respray when it gets really crappy..

if dun wanna scrap your newly painted belly pan, i suggest put your belly pan at home to admire..

because in SG, those *********** humps are so high and big.. worst in Msia when crossing customs..

Hum Hum Hum Hum..

what eat laksa no have so many Hum..??? you really can think..

OOT liao..

anyways, school teaching also teach just to put one leg on the road..

suspension can really be alter, unless changed to RXZ type one, may be shorter.. and since your friend's a girl, the preload wouldn't be much needed.. can keep the OEM Showa..

then go drop the forks relative to the suspension.. i dun think hitting humps will be a concern for her if she using 4-2-1 header..

and regarding RVF.. IIRC, RVF ride height is higher than S4..

IMO, not say for better corner or say more stable..

by lowering the fork will improve the handling not only during corners, on straights also.. becuz you are literally lowering the CG of your bike..

in physics, we learn lower CG means more stability..

it's also the reason why sportsbikes have short forks than road bikes..

just my 2cents..
