I just washed and tunned my carbs at Combine recently. Can feel the difference before and after. Long wait is expected because they will really do a very detail and good job. U won't regret going there. :thumb:

what do u mean by mod it like new? as in the engine wise (tuning) or the outlooks??

Philosophy A: Ignore what everyone else thinks. Riding is a better way to get around. Ride paranoid and keep your skills sharp

Philosophy B: Ride with somebody who's better than you. You will pick up a handy trick or new skill just about every time you are out

Philosophy C: You don't need a big bike to prove ur passion for riding

some guidelines for carb noobies!

to wash a carb, the shop will usually remove the whole carb assembly and dismantle it into pieces and they will wash thuroughly with petrol...

(a good mech would wash the insides and outsides)

there should be some dirt and grime on the exteriors.

after that they will usually blow it dry with the air compressor blower...

they will then put everything back

(make sure u see with ur own eyes that EVERYTHING IS BACK IN!)

the carbs cannot work properly without everything in... LOGIC!

at this point, they will mount back the carb and will commence with tuning. cos prior to this stage, they have removed every single screw and float and needles so a re-setup is a MUST...

they should use a vaccum gauge to sync the carbs with the same amount of airflow, this may take a while cos the optimal settings are hard to find so time is needed...

as for the optimal Air Fuel Ratio, how its determined i also not sure...

for me last time, i will increase the idling abit, maybe to about 2000rpm and i will start playing with the air mixture screw... start with rich to lean, slowly turn till the bike's rpm will climb up to the peak (means the highest rpm achieved) without revving or turning of idle screw, den stop there. that is my optimal setting... i not sure one okay... not accurate dun blame me for this part...

Few points to note...

1. Carbs are only washed with petrol. If you see any fella washing your carbs with water or any other thing, STOP HIM!

2. Synching and tuning of air/fuel ratio should be done at the same time. Synching uses a 4 vacuum gauges (1 for each cyclinder) and the air/fuel ration uses another machine that measures the amount of hydrocardons, CO, and etc etc coming out from your exhaust.

From what i know, synching is not much of a prob but tuning is. Without the machine, the only way is to ride and check your plugs often. For a single cyclinder, it's easy to tune, but imagine 4 cyclinders! Tuning also comes with experience. Not many ppl know how to use the machine.

Go to a reputable shop to tune. For me, i only go to RS Bikes, at Eunos industril estate..
