VTR 1000 SP 1 & 2 Riders?

eh guys can i ask, is the insurance for SP1 ex?? and also is the maintainence for tis bike high? and also the parts hard to find??

hey blacstar.. firstly i just turned 25yrs old.. insurance when i renewed in july was ard 400++ wif 15% NCD included already... VTR is an old bike.. SP1 is ard 10 yrs old alraedy and majority of us ard here just renewed COE.. SP2 came out in 2004.. but finding SP2 for sale is harder than striking 4D... spare parts?? i just changed my magnetic coil...repaired my left radiator.. all old bikes have its share of problems.. spare parts can always get from FJT or if u can wait, get frm Ebay.. and im still enjoyin my V-Twin after 1yr of riding.. if u wan, can always contact my group for a meet up.. (Aalex, atremis and etc.. ) my vtr has took me to Hatyai this april and i just returned frm cameron last weekend.. its a cheap vtwin to buy and definitely a head-turner on the streets wif its twin exhausts and vtwin sound and majority of the youngsters do not even noe what this bike is..

blacstar: i sold off my cbr400 for $5500 and bought my vtr for 5000 and renew coe for another 1000... its abt the same maintainence.. so nt much difference.. but in terms of performance.. no horse run....

maintiance 1000cc bike no matter what still more ex. do your maths before buying 1.

in terms of maintainence ok lah.. EO im using abt 3.5litres.. spark plugs we are using only 2.. if u sae battery, coil, rectifier all these repairs.. all costs about the same as a 2a bike..

on the other hand im willing to let go of my babe if any buyer can hit my asking price of s$10k... Total milage for this babe just hit 60k.... Meter has nt been re-set b4 n nvr go 1round yet..

 

Things ive changed:

*after market header wif legal scorpion exhausts ( the exhausts alone costs $2k wif modified bigger midpipes)

*after market windscreen

*Hel Brake hose (3lines- front n back)

*6-point grounding

*steelmate 2-way alarm

*Single seater

*Number plate in Thai Language

 

Things ive repaired/ changed:

*repaired left leaking radiator

*new magnetic coil

*new rectifier

*new battery

*tyres changed in april'2010 and use less than 10k

 

 

im the 3rd owner of this VTR SP1 and this is only my weekend bike.. i have a phantom wif me and i used it for my daily commute..

FC for my bike..normal cruising at 100kph can get u 230km b4 reserve light is shown.... Recently i tried to maintain at 200kph frm GP to Ayer Keroh can only get 150km and reserve light blink on liao.....

Max: urs is really track ready bike... I value my bike at that amt... Lol but then if somebody do really offer me tat $10k.. I also will really consider long n hard b4 coming to a decision... If really want to sell, go to sgbikes.com there can fetch higher price in my opinion

B4 I changed my exhausts from stock to scorpion, I also get about 200km before reserve light on.. Now my fuel to air mixture is running too lean liao because i nvr put PC... When I close throttle n drop clear n throw clutch wif engine brake on.. There will be a lot of backfires.. My friend even claimed he saw blue colour flame coming out of my two exhaust.. Although I get more milage now but in the long run it is bad for my head gasket... So most prob going to install PC 3 n do dyno.. Come out for a meetp la.. Either with the VTR group or my touring group... going to Koh samuai nxt yr
