i did the following after reaching 50000km -

1) valve clearance

2) adjust timing chain

3) tap pad

$400++ damage done.. so far so good...

sorry to bring up an old thread. my bike makes a whirring sound when in gear 6th at around 5k rpm. does that means the gearbox got something wrong or the clutch housing got some problem? also, i face problems of having thud thud sound when changing gear and have frequent gear slippage. so, now i'm confused whether my gearbox got something wrong or my clutch plates need to be changed or both? anyway, my bike is a bajaj pulsar not a super. sorry to hijack. but i don't know where else to go. hehe.. is there any good clutch plates to recommend or is there just 1 type for 1 particular model?

 

i need someone experienced to help as i don't really trust the mechs. most like to say just change this and that.

whats the difference between clutch plate wear off and clutch housing loose?

 

what are the different symptoms for each of the problem?

 

how to perform checks for each of the problem to see if our clutch plate is worn off or clutch housing is loose etc?

sometimes when i change gear up to gear 2, suddenly it will kick back in to neutral (making it seem that i am revving unnecessarily), what does this mean? time to change the clutch plates is it? is that what ppl call clutch slip?

How long ago did you since changed EO? If you changed EO and still encounter those gears dropping back to neutral then maybe you should consider checking with bikeshop. Most probably is your clutch plates worn out. How long did you had your bike? First gear moving off any problem? Wait for more advises from the bros here too.

my EO still quite recent and mileage not much...this only happens from gear 1 to gear 2 then especially when i try to revv high it will slip down to neutral... this hapens sometimes only and is not that serious... just wanna know whether its because the clutch plates are a bit worn?

Got an enquiry here. I found it very hard to kick to neutral gear in stationary position but when coming to a stop while in moving position, it is easy. Is tat normal or something to do with the clutch plate?

most likely is your clutch cable.

I just changed my clutch due to clutch slip on saturday, got it done for $120 at unique motorsports @ defu lane. Very fast, within an hour.

 

If you feel you're encountering clutch slip or your clutch is around 50% worn, don't waste time and hurry to your mech. Before you do some damage.

another way to know if u need to change ur clutch plate is wen u start ur bike and ur engine got thing irritating "sound". But wen u clutch in, it goes away.. when dis happen, den its a sign of "clutch changing time!"

Mine's got this tik-tik-tik-tik fast sound when i start my bike. Don't know if its the fan kicking in or what. It goes away after 2 mins warmp up.

oh. same as mine. mine at times got knocking sound also. check with a few mechs, they say is common for bike reaching 10 years old. its actually clutch housing problem. usually after warm up or ride for some time will gone. anyway, try use agip EO. i using that right now and it didn't have that knocking sound already.

don't worry bro. is because when our bike is parked for quite some time, the eo will sink to the bottom of the engine. when start, the engine need to pump up the eo thus having this sound. after warm up will be okie.

hey bro, sorry for the late reply. i didn't check the price.

 

i'm using SAE10W-40 agip eo. ya, no more knocking sound when warming up, but still got the rough sound. erm, i using it for about 6 months already. (i change eo every 3 months.)

Clutch cable buy at Lab and fix ownself better. Save lotsa $$$$. less than $20 not wrong.. Some shops i noe charge damn ex!
