Hi guys. Greetings from the Philippines.

Just got my '97 Magna VF750 last week.

She's got a two tone paint job of purple and white.

Lots of chrome and in stock condition. Only 8,000 kms. on the speedo.

I have moved up from riding Super 4s for the last 2 yrs.

Before that, I owned a Steed VLX400. Loved it for 4 yrs. too.

I originally wanted to get a Shadow ACE but friends and riders

convinced me to get the Magna. Lotsa torque, power and good looks too.

I'm glad i took their advice. I love my Magna and i hope you'll like it too.

Mabuhay!

Welcome to the forum. Glad u got a bike u like.

What brings u these parts?

Thanks bro.

There's really not much action going on here regarding

cruisers. Mostly sportsbikes, Super Fours, scooters

and small displacement bikes ( 100, 125, 150cc) which

we fondly call underbones.

Have a few buddies who ride Harleys and Royal Stars.

They're glad to have me tag along.

Im looking forward to some discussions on cruisers

in general, tips on maintenance and repair. Maybe

get a few bargains on parts and accessories.

Cheers.

Any Vmax in The Philippines? :cheer:

Thanks again bro.

Yup. Lots of VMAX here.

All colors too. Saw one with a red engine too.

I was considering getting one too

but i backed off since i found the seat height

too high for me.:giddy:

Cheers.

Dear Mabuhay,

Shalom!

Great to meet a Honda Magna 750 proud owner.

I am Solomon San from Johor, Malaysia.

Honda Magna 750 is my dream bike!

i been looking for it and it is hard to find one in Malaysia. Got a seller want to let go his red colour year 1996 US Imported Model Magna 750 2 months ago, but i dont have the budget to take it, the picture of the magna 750 is here :http://img128.imageshack.us/img128/6162/magna2fz.jpg

...at last i end up with Kawasaki Vulcan EN500C , Year 1997 at a bargain price...RinggitMalaysia RM8500 (about USD2300)

you may take a look at my bike at http://www.freewebs.com/solomonsan

Your bike is very nice dude!:thumb: a good buy! how much u paid for it?

Here in Malaysia, a Magna 750 (year 1996 will cost you at least RM20000= USD5390

i really hope i able to get one Magna 750 one day :)

by the way, is Magna 750 parts ( sprocket, chain, brake pad...) available in SIngapore? seems like it is hard to get wear and tear parts for magna 750 in malaysia.

thanks

i am available for chatting in yahoo messenger, my id is: s_weng , please add me and we can share our experience.

regards,

Solomon San

Nice to see that SingaporeBikes.com reaches out to our brothers in region as well.

I'm not a Magna expert, but there are Magnas in Singapore, so i suspect that spares can be found here as well.

The irony of ironies is that, while cars cost more than most places in the world, large bikes are comparatively cheaper than our neighbouring countries.

I know of a Magna (probably about 8-10 yrs old) was just sold for about US$2000 recently here.

Well my info is 2nd hand, so i could be wrong. But i doubt that i would be that much off the mark.

I believe it's a known fact that big bikes in sg are cheaper than in Malaysia. Cos of your AP system or something. So if u think u'r fine buying a bike here but riding in Malaysia, u should scan through our classifieds and garage sales section for good deals.

Magnas aint' common here, but if ur patient u should be able to find one.

Btw, how much would it cost in Malaysia?

Hi Solomon,

Your Vulcan looks very mint.

Like it came off the showroom.:cheer:

Great bike bro.

Don't worry about not getting your dream bike.

Just keep aiming for it. It really took me almost

12 years to get my Magna. I went through 8 kinds

of bikes before I had enough cash to get it.

My magna cost me US$5400 total. Whew!

There aren't very much Magna's around here

in the Philippines. I think there are more Shadow ACE

750cc. I really had an eye to get one but a chance to

own a power cruiser, i couldn't let it pass me.

Im sure one day you'll get one. Just be patient

and ride safe always.

Cheers,

jimmy

300,000 pesos? Whew is right.

But that's the price of passion right?

Hope you enjoy every minute of your new baby.

Yes, i am indeed enjoying every minute of it.

And to see other bikers admiring your ride,

to me, that's priceless. :thumb:

He migrated to Canada and i understand from him that the bike was exported to a buyer in Indonesia. That was in 2000........

Guys, any clue as to how you can determine

the year of manufacture of a specific bike?

The registration on my magna says its a 2002 model.

But the previous owner said that its a 1997 model?

Will the chassis no. tell the true tale?

Where can I verify this?

Thanks for any help or tip.

Posted

on the chassis/frame where the vin no. is displayed, you'll find the manufactured month and year clearly engraved.

Your magna is a 1997 model, I am pretty sure.

It was the cream of the crop then, beautiful purple / white paint job and a bikini fairing to boot!

Anyway, whether it's a new or older model for this Magna750 doesnt matter becos the only diff is basically the paintjob.

Many thanks for the info.

Hmmmm, interesting to see that bikini fairing.

You don't happen to have a pic of that original fairing would you?

I could have one fabricated here if i could get a decent look at it.

Thanks.

here's one of the main reasons i got my Magna back in 95

Excerpt from Motorcruiser.com:-

=====================

There is, they say, no substitute for cubic inches. That is, except for efficiency. Let an engine breathe, spin it hard and make it efficient, and who needs all those bulky cubic inches?

Thats the story of Honda's 750 Magna. Each of the liquid-cooled, 748cc V-4 engine's cylinders breathes through its own 34mm carb and four valves operated by overhead cams. It revs to 9700 rpm, which is screaming for a cruiser-style motorcycle, though unspectacular by sportbike standards. (Some current sportbikes turn as much as 15,000 rpm.) Combine that sort of engine intensity with the Magna's modest 538-pound wet weight, and you get a 750 that's capable of outrunning not only big twins but even Honda's big six, the Valkyrie . The Magna's low-12-second quarter-mile times confirm this is a genuine musclebike.

---------------------------------------------------------------------------

Here's a true personal one:-

I remembered an incident where a dyna wide glide (rider was middle aged) came beside me at the lights and gave me a snub look. To show off, he blasted away once the lights turned green. (it easy to tell if someone is blasting away becos of the way he twisted his throttle and his riding posture)

Yr 1995 at 22 yrs old and not to be outdone on my stock Magna, i simply twisted my wrist and outgunned him there and then. I waved hello as i rode beside him with ease, at a speed which his bike was clearly maxed out (you could see the stress he was under) and then pulled away with another twist of the wrist.

Sweet sweet V4 power. Guess he learnt never to take on a Magna with his Dyna Wide Glide again...ever...

(this is not meant to be Harley bashing, please)

Awesome tale dude. :cheeky:

This sunday i'll be out riding with the Harley Club.

We're going up north to the old Clark AB. A good 100 kms. one way.

I'm sure i can test the measure of a few Road Kings and FatBoys. :thumb:

By the way, It is a '97 model. checked the mags up front and back.

Also peeked inside the sidepanels for the dates. July '97 to be exact.

Thanks again.
