Shadow 400 problem

Hi all,

 

I'm new in this forum but it's a cool forum, lots of info......... : )

 

I've been riding a shadow 400 for the last 6 years. Mine's a 1997 model. Just renewed my COE last year............ : )

 

Just a week ago, I have this problem and it happens only once or twice on each ride............... : ( The problem is that during half way of my ride, my bike will stall for a few seconds (it's like the feeling of no more fuel). After that it's ok and back to normal. It's a scarry problem bcos if I'm overtaking and this happens, then 'cia lat' man...............

 

Anyone has encountered this problem before? I've just serviced my carburetor last week with new plugs.

 

Any recommended bike shop that is good at this kind of problem finding and solving? Currently I always go to the same bike shop near Queenway shopping center.

 

Any advice from the pros or experts??

Im no expert but

 

Was your bike cold when u ride it? This few days rainy period like that one....or maybe your carb never service properly?

 

Can always go to another shop for second opinion.....Rosli at Eunos or Ah cHong at Planet

Try Rosli. He knows Shadows with both eyes closed and hands tied behind his back. hahaha. Sound scary. Could it be your fuel pump problem? Does your engine die when you wanna sudden throttle? Either that or could be your throttle cable or something like that. Happened to some TDMs but it's the throttle position sensor thingy.

sounds like some water has entered ur fuel tank or carburator.

Hi bro,

I also hav the same problem last month wif my shadow.It's stall @ a cross section juntion trafic light !!! Wat a nightmare!! LL bo pian hav to push to a side walk.Try to restart also cnot,WTH call towtruck to tow back to workshop @ 10pm.Merchanic said it's the fuel pump prob so chg fuel pump,4xplug ,EO.Fuel pump very ex i tink abt 138 for just a small pump.Now ok leow but must warmup b4 ride off inthe morning.Maybe u can try.

Faced a similar problem start of the month. Should be fuel pump. This is due to wear and tear. Around 140. Remember to get him to tune the carb after change.
