Hey guys, I'm new here so you might not have seen me around this thread before. I'll be looking for a bike to get from place to place sometime round January and 1) I like classic bikes, 2)I just need a cheap purchase (1-2k restoration not factored in).

I'm kinda simple and I was wondering which would be a better candidate, the Yamaha rxk135, the Honda CB 160/175 or the Boon Siew Honda Custom 125CM?

Seeing how you guys have probably seen all and done all, could you offer me some advice on what I need to do? I would like to learn more about how much restoration one might need to do and how you know when it needs to be done. Thank you :)

I prefer tiwn engine other than single

Cb160 is the best bet! The only thing is price tag around 5-6k

Cb175 also a good selection but parts are getting hard to get those days.

RXk:

Too many ppl riding and the engine design not very nice.

I think old honda CG125 is the only option. Single engine and FC is also quite good.

Buy the bike( cost around 1k) and spent another 1k to convent the look into old vintage cb100 look…

PM me if you need more information.

Can i check with you if this is the cb160?

http://reschenthaler.net/cb1001.jpg

And is this the CG100 you described?

http://www.brooksbarn.co.uk/images/main19.jpg

And this was the original bike I was intending to get- The Honda Custom 125CM or CM125 in short.

http://www.granbymotors.co.uk/images/m/cm125.jpg

:D I think you got it mixed up with the CG100. Both bikes look nice but I was wondering how much you think this would cost :)

Btw, do you know anything about the Yamaha RD125?

Honda cb100 can be found in S'pore lah........last time my friend own a black one. A handful can be still seen in S'pore rd lah. If you got class 2A, why dont try honda cb250 nighthawk as a cafe conversion. This model got many model and many years, still in production leh.....

I would have buy a cheap one and try converting it but OC and also time dont permit me to do it. Twin is much easier than sohc or dohc wo.

Good luck.

What about the Custom 125 in the third link? I know Boon Siew Honda sells it, but I'd like to get it at the described price range of 1k (plus, minus). Problem is, I don't know where to begin :p

That will be 2nd hand bike......you got to go around bike shop and ask around, basically there is alot of bike shops in industrial area, like AMK, Ubi, Yishun, ...........etc......may find something cheap for your project.

So what kind of project you into, cafe or mod or just classic make-over??

Fork abit high, for cafe leh........may need to drop the fork or .......

Hmm, Cafe racers would be out of my budget? What's the difference between the cafe project, mod project, and just bringing it back to life?

Basically, is the same, whether is cafe or mod, is turning from nor to wow! For cafe racer - is just a project that transform from nor to cafe style. If you seen some of the bike in the forum, is from nor to cafe, you will be amazed. Super nice......

Hi, I'm new to this forum and I saw this post on the Honda 110. I believe I have the same bike here in Australia. it has Benly written on the side covers and the tank paintwork is a little different. The iron head and barrel look the same as the photo. It has no model number anywhere and only a chassis number starting with 110 just above the engine casing on the left side of the pressed steel chassis. I believe it came from Penang originally.

When i get time I will post up pics of my other bikes.

1973 Z1 900 Kawasaki

1973 XLCH 1000 sportster

1969 T250 Suzuki Hustler.

1991 Xt225 Yamaha Serow.

and the Honda Benley.

Wowee..from the sound of it, it seems like you mean business when it comes to vintage bikes. That's a pretty impressive collection you've got there; can't wait to see those pictures too :)
