Aniway, Rosli said that my exhaust cannot be used anymore as welding will not help as well. he suggested looking for a second hand exhaust...

I wonder where am i gonna find that...

Which part of the stock pipe is damaged? The main canister or the tubes?

A friend of mine is selling just the main canister from his Shadow 400. It's in mint condition since he changed to aftermarket pipes at once.

The downside is the weight and shipping costs. That canister is really heavy!

Hi, im not sure which part of the exhaust is damaged. I went to the mechanic and showed him the part that needs attention. After checking, he said that it wont help if do welding as the problem will keep coming back and other parts will eventually crack as well. He said that the exhaust cannot be used anymore. The pic is attached.

I went back to the bike shop for the 3rd time. I told the mechanic of the symtoms and ask if water can get in to our carbs or eng. He very confidently say no. If water het in, the bike will give out back fire sound. I ask him if the tuning is done properly after carb serv and valve clearance. He claimed yes.

He diagnosed my bike and claimed that the connector for wires supplying elecctric to the spark plug cable melted, causing not enough electric supply to the spark plugs. He went ahead to replace the connectors. The bike liven up for a while. After travelling 15 mins, the problem came back again. But this time not so much. Looks like I shan't waste time with this shop anymore. Always get lip service.

After doing all these, when after rain, the problem still persists. I found out from an uncle whose is riding shadow also, he say he has this problem before. His case is that water went into his fuel tank. He also cannot explain how did the water enter. Mst likely, I am trying out another workshop to see if water is really inside fuel tank...

Will update again if it is fixed.

Hi guys, after visiting different bike shops, it's finally fixed.

1. Fuel pump was replaced (at planet) to cure the "water in carb feeling". This is because the fuel supply is intermittent.

2. Clutch cable was replaced (at planet) because after adjusting to max, the bike still keep stalling when clutch in on first gear.

3. Wash carb and tune the bike again (at Mah motor, jalan besar). This decision was made after taking out the spark plug and see one of the plug is especially black. Not only at the tip, but the white part also. Tested after the carb wash and tuning, I like it. Now is to go back to service the fork and change out those black spark plugs.

Having said so much, I might be riding this bike for another 6 or 9 months. After which will have to let go as I will be overseas for 2 years... 

That's the area where the downpipes and the cannister are connected. Yes, its very hard to weld that joint. I think there's heavy rusting in the canister link, so the weld won't hold.

The more you weld, the bigger the hole. My advice is to modify it to straight pipes like these 2.5 inch diameter FatStakkers.

Hi Guys, Just a simple question.

Is it very common for your shadow to heat up very easily? for eg, riding at approximately 90km/hr from pasir ris TPE to Jalan Kayu? estimated 10-15km?

I noticed that my fan kicks in almost after every medium trip. any advice bros?

Tnx for the advice. I have checked with Ahdi at kallang workshop, he said that he will need to open the exhaust to do a full check. I think I will let him do a full check first and than check if some modifications can be done to use back my current exhaust.

Getting a first hand exhaust is way over my budget based on the quotation given by a few bikes shops.

Which part is it? The big long part that cover the exhaust? Below the pillion foot rest? Isn't it welded?

anw, shadow riders, wanted to ask. Would it look v ugly if i were to wear full face helmet while riding? I saw this Mfizz helmet going for $140 at ahboy, full faced with some built in sunglasses inside. lookabit like helicopter pilot like that. was quite tempted to get it but wasnt sure if it would be suitable for a cruiser, comments?

Hi charles, i like ff helmets but i find it too impractical for city riding.

To dark angle, if we're taking to the one perpendicular to the ground, aunty shop may carry them.
