i kena there before. parked there for few times as i was studying at the mdis beside the long john there (night class after work). if i were to park at ps and walk to mdis there i will be late for school for 10min+.

the fine is indeed $70 if i remember correctly. took awhile to come though.

no 1st warning, no understanding, just fine it. just like a school of fish that got hauled up the net. good harvest.

unfortunately thats the way it is.

anyway like others say, i dont patronise that new cathay since they fail to register bikers as potential customers.

Actually, should have a petition signed to send to Cathay, TP and ST Forum.

Not for car park, but to declare bikers are boycotting Cathay.

If i've mistaken, someone actually send an email to STOMP with regards to this. Thats why the authority decide to take enforcement action i guess.

The way I see it, from all the past description, by now they should have put big signs there for e.g. " NO BIKES PARKING", but they still let it become unofficial parking spot so anytime can come and earn their mass bonus

It's silly to get fined. I realized that last year when my fines increased the running cost of my bike by over 10%!

Actually, this kind of thing, can call the newspaper, they might be interested in some juicy news. Maybe not Straits Times, but I think the Chinese papers quite like such stuff. Dunno about the Malay daily.

There is no such thing as unofficial parking lots. If it a public pavement, you've to face the fact that you will be summon anytime. I also had been summoned there before. Of course I'm not so happy about it but decided to try my luck to appeal. It failed and I just pay. FYI, those parking on the grass patch/soil can only be summoned by NEA guys. Heard it is more costly than pavement. Those parking on pavement can only be summoned by police or TP. Those normal parking warden can only summon vehicle on parking lots or parked illegally on road side, etc double yellow line.

i kinda hate to watch movie at Cathay(of formerly Picturehouse) there. The CP there doesnt allowed bikes but cars. Even for cars the passageways is small & quite worrying when monuvering.

i seldom go there as parking would be a arse, so usually i watch my movies at PS if i need to be at town. Even Cathay Orchard(opp Heeren) on a weekend, parking bikes there is like parking for summons...

Bias against bikes???or poor managements??? OR probably, they just dont care!!!

But at least park at cathay beside still have PS which is free parking for bikes. But then on the other hand, why don't those major shopping centres accept bike parking. If they wanna charge then juz be it, but at least give us some parking space. It's super hard to find parking outside the shopping centres also man..

funny everyone should know parking outside park lot sure got risk.. cbd/orchard area risk even higher.. anyway cine cupon parking also hot spot for fine for not parking within the slot.. not much to complain..

o well we are constraint to the buidling owner that y alot of buildng dont let bike in but nothing we can do also..

saw 1 post by palmer moderator, actually in term of movie prices cathay has the best for weekday and weekend anytime.. $6 for weekday and $8 for weekend using credit or debit uob card.. which is y i only go movie to cathay and their seats are much better than gv/shaw etc.. no choice best free parking for cine is centerpoint while the cathay is ps as most people already known..

I also realise it might be the some bikers fault. If some know that spot is a fine spot, they shud not park en masse there like on weekend nights, it led the noob parking like me to mistakenly 'join the crowd'. Or at least they shud warn others not to park there. However i suspect that most ppl who park there really had the same idea as me, that it was an unofficial spot on weekend nights. So silly of me to forget that we're in such a fine country and assume that our fine people are all 1 eye only

yeah every weekend without fail u can hordes of bikes on the pavement n it wont b surprising to realise later that there'll b a white paper slip on each bike.learn yr lesson.once bitten, twice shy.u cant afford to keep paying fines every other wk,especially not with the increasing fuel prices.how to keep cope?

i guess the reason why they dun have bike lots are... cos they see bikers no up ba.. the things they sell there are mostly on the more expensive side. most people see bikers as trash without spending budgets. very sad.. but they failed to recognise that nowadays, quite a lot of well to do people also ride bikes for its convenience and as a very efficient transport. and by the way, most bikers have more spending power than car owners cos we are not tied up in a huge car debt! grrrr....

next time i sure want to drive a dirty rusty beat up old truck.. then paint on the tail-board.. I have claimed insurance on 99 tail-gaters. Are you the 100th? :cheeky:
