WIll maintanence cost alot? By the way, how to judge whether the skipper is alright or not? Parts easy to find? How much you guys spend on the bike monthly? Sorry for so many questions... :cheeky:

Hi gina,

Welcome to the house of scooter.

The insurance will be calculated base what bike you ride, newly passed triangle plate, your age and wherther you have a clean record or not.

Skipper is a good choice if you wish not to spend too much, the skipper brothers here likes to DIY and a bunch of fun group, enjoy your stay with them.

:thumb:

With every good wishes

Hihi... thanks for the warm welcome... that's really sweet of you.... Yeah.. no records before... new triangular plate... 22yrs old... so insurance does not cost more for an older bike? Or is it road tax will cost more for an older bike?

Ya... a skipper is definitely within my budget range but am afraid that it will actually cost more if it break down cause it is an old bike ma... hehe... Thanks

Hehe.. thanks for the comliment!

Repair wise, skipper is like any other bike. You just need to do the scheduled maintainence like changing tyres, rollers, belts and other small stuffs. But if you are looking for power, there isn't much in a skipper. But you can mod it if u want ahz! :cheeky: If you are getting a 2nd hand skipper, make sure to check the bike wheel alignment, engine bushing, engine sound (any rattling or not) and the electrical parts of the bike. If you are paying $500 for the bike, make sure you put aside another $500 just in case  For me, my bike was great till early this year when the bushing fails..... then i start to spend liao... anyway i've been riding it for 4yrs  Hope this helps!

Oh yah, my insurance 23yrs old is around $250 (est) like that  Less than my vespa and runner

ur age should not differ frm mine tt much. i'm 23 and p-plater as well. insurance for skipper will be cheaper @ mitsui. cost 290+ for third party. for NTUC cost ard 360.

the more expensive part i thikn u r referring to abt old bike's the rd tax. older it is the more expensive. but not much only extra $8 for half yr. so no worries.

as for general bike condition, can ask oryx to lom-pang u ard in his chio bike to go scout ard. its all matter of luck when it comes to buying skipper.

can't advice u on wave vs skipper. but all i know is tt if u wanna save on petrol and have more $$ for bike..go for wave. avg wave cost 1.8k and 1 litre can go up to 50km. for skipper avg price ard 500. 1 litre goes ard 24-30km. but hey! skipper's auto..ie easy to ride. ;)

oryx>> now all the mid term papers are coming tt's y this forum quite inactive.

xue>> can try wonderful. for price think u can check with brother mark. he's more au fait with the pricing.

who_noe>> u got a Bb???!!! very nice car!! seen the one @ the recent motorshow?? cream and orange. very nice vintage look!! :lovestruck:

SKI>> when coming back again frm thailand?? how's it there btw?? got gf liao??

mark c>> thx for ur help tt day ya?

Paintwork for whole bike including the rims and grey sections around $300 dollars. Done at kallang way! White is really nice but you must not be lazy to clean it as it does get dirty easily. Right now, my skipper is quite dirty. Need to find time to wash it :cheeky:

Gina, i would strongly recommend that you slowly think whether to get a skipper or a cub kia first. Sembawang to NUS is not near, so u do need to get a good and reliable bike. I heard some cub kia's fuel consumption is like scrambler's. Every 100km need to refill. Skipper is also the same. When you get ur skipper, do ask for the fuel consumption also so that you wont need to spend more money on fuel. Make sure it is in the 22-24km/litre range or in 180-200km full tank range. Like i say earlier, skipper is cheap but you really need to put aside some money for repairs... if you need help viewing any skippers, you can look for any of us here. We can help

oryx>> u have a skipper ride who travel frm tampines to ntu everyday. tt's ard 80km 2 ways. and i guess u r right abt stability. this bike fails cos it's light and has fairing(wind resistant) relibility..depends on luck. ;)

to clarifty cup kia needs refill every 100+km cos their fuel tank's like 3 litres?? so it's not exactly equivalent to scrams' 10+km/l.

SKI>> how's it thwere btw? rainy still? like here??

Mark>> thanx anyhow.
