Looks exactly like the one in the pic except the fork tube is chrome instead of anodised red and the top holding nut is the same anodised blue. Initially I thought it was some cheapo aftermarket stuffs until I saw the same fork on Malossi website.

The fork assembly accroding to WM is from Gilera runner, because he wanted to show me how the Gilera runner fork assembly look like. As he is trying to convince me Gilera runner fork can installed on Typhoon.

Do you happen to know any Gilera runner who upgraded their fork assembly and have a spare one lying ard?? I just need one to replace the leaking one on mine because WM says not servicable.

I still have some doubts because the haynes manual states the procedure of changing the oil seal on typhoon and Zip.

Now I am pending bike lab or teck thye to see if they are able to rebuilt the fork before going to the agent at genting lane.

don't any how take advice from anyone .

if u r sceptical abt any given advice from a mech. better go do some research before u decide.

go and check the malossi fork part number for typhoon and runner to see if they r the same.

if they r not. then there must be some diff ( spring load, fork length , etc).

i believe that shocks r one of the most important parts when it come to handling and stablity

we do have alot of mech who claim they r very pro and knowledgable with auto parts .:giddy:

The malossi website states F32S is for runner and typhoon, so what WM says is true, Typhoon can use Runner's fork assembly.

I'm skeptical abt the typhoon fork is not serviceable because the haynes manual states the procedure to change the oil seal, but it also states the typhoon fork construction may vary from year to year and its best to consult the agent. However it never states how much oil and viscocity of fork oil to use.

That's why I am seeking 2nd opinion from BikeLab and Teck Thye, the suspension guru in sg, and piaggio agent to confirm the fork is really not servicable before I take the plunge to use runner's fork assembly (which I assume its serviceable).

maybe you should try see if they sell the fork seal first. rebuilding should be pretty straighforward.

Problem is alot of the Piaggio dealer don;t carry Typhoon 125 spares.

So far I have tried Tong Aik (who help me to get the air filter) and another shop at serangoon (didn;t take note of the name but they sell piaggio spares) afew shop before GHC. Have also email the Piaggio agent at genting lane, who told me they no longer keep stock of Typhoon spares. The shop at serangoon told me to try my luck at automachinary, which I'm gona do this weekend.

I believe the oil seal maybe common with other jap bikes, because the typhoon shock is by Showa. But then which shop is willing to take the risk, wasting time and effort to bring down the whole fork assembly, dismantle and check the oil seal. if 'suay' couldn't find the part then 'lan lan' have to assemble back, somemore can't charge a single cent because problem not fixed.

most forks in general can be serviced. it's the fork seal tt's a b*tch. do not need to worry much abt springs and all unless it's bent or heavily rusted. if those goes out..can alway try fit in other bike's, not much issue with tt.

as for viscosity and volume, it varies from rider to rider. standard viscosity's 15-20w. do know of ppl using 5-0w. and volume, again, depends on the hardness you wanna. try with low volume first then slowly top it up. it's always easier to top up than to drain.

most important thing to note is to be precise with the volume topped up. this is especially dangerous when conering when one fork retracts faster than the other. and of course..drain it well.

Went to a shop think the name is ES, located at 74 desker road. Ask the boss if he sell fork oil seal for tyhoon. Boss told me the fork cannot be repaired and suggest to change to malossi if I want better handling and if I have the intention to keep the bike. Else I will have to live with it. He quote me $900+ for the malossi fork and also showed me a busted typhoon fork.

I have no intention to keep the bike forever, but I like the better handling part. Anyway all I need is a transport, not for race so I went on to look for the oil seal.

Next I went to Automachinary to look for the fork oil seal, the old uncle serve me check through the typhoon parts manual and even the gilera part manual, told me no longer have stock. I asked the uncle to order the parts for me but he refused because he says not much typhoon ard. He ask me to go to piaggio agent to order the parts myself.

Going to the piaggio agent this weekend, wished me luck. I think I'm going to order 5 sets for spare.

If I strike Toto, I will go for the malossi fork without 2nd thoughts.

Will ask Teck thye and bikelab to see if they able to repair the fork, so I no need to source the oil seal myself. If they say cannot repair, then I will go piaggio service center to ask them order the parts and repair the fork.

If still cannot then will email Piaggio Italy to see how I can get the spares to sg.

Personal experience, I ever emailed honda italy abt getting a part for my Honda NSR125(italy made), and they direct me to FJT eventually I got the part.

I like the fun part of hunting for spares, although its a luxury to have plenty of spares for your bike available in the market.

does this mean that parts for typhoon 125

is very diff to get?

Not exactly, basically you can find almost any parts for typhoon on ebay Uk. But the shipping is damm ex also the exchange rate is not favourable to us.

Ebay

Most part on the typhoon125 is similar to skipper125 which is very common in sg but not in UK(strange). Botak says even the CDI and rectifier is the same.

If u are getting orginal spares for typhoon in Spore I dun really c a big problem becoz most of it r similar parts used on the skipper n if really outta stock then some wacky ideas to use parts from other bikes might be able to mod to fit..the case dat really sets u back is becoz u r now trying to look for the oil seal for the fork wher basically I tink no much ppl in Spore service dat thus itz kinda hard to find...if ur toking abt the stock pumps, bearings, relays, coils, gaskets, pistons, blocks or something like dat might still be able to find locally..

tio bo??...any skipper or typhoon riders out ther like to cfm this??

for everyone riding runner and typhoon using inverted fork.

the inverted fork u using r servicable.

why bike shop says not servicable? cos its very troublesome to do it, how much u wanna pay for it? internal parts r difficult to find. not much bikeshop wanna bring in.

people always think its the oil seal leaking but there's no oil in the fork! one side of the fork is spring, the other side is a damper just like the rear damper without spring.

there'r only grease on the spring and other small internal parts. The oil u see outside the fork r grease. no point changing the oil seal which never helps on the performance of the fork.

wat u need to change is the damper in the fork! most of the damper in runner inverted fork r spoil but they just change oil seal. waste time and money.

hope everyone clear now!

even harder...during the launch of typhoon in 95, it was almost gonna be the dwn period of skipper n then riders were goin ard saying skipper was not such a gd scoot aft all so alot of ppl gave up the idea of an auto scoot...large amount of typhoon remain unsold till ard 2-3yrs back the shops who had kept stock had to try to sell it off coz itz reaching 10yrs soon if not sold they die die hav to register it or scrap or export it out so then some of these remaining stock manage to come onto the roads again...

all the above is hearsay dunno real anot lah :D

but personally I feel dat the typhoon is kinda cute n sporty scoot to zip ard in :thumb:

pls keep us update on the rebuild news from Teck thye or bikelab...I nv check wif them wif regards to rebuilding the orginal inverted fork on my scoot so till now Im still wondering if the orginal inverted forks on the typhoons or runners r really rebuildable anot??

I went piggio service centre today, they dont have a single spare for typhoon. I ask the uncle to order the fork oil seal, he refuse and ask me to try automachinary instead. The 2 shop very good at doing 'taichi' .

Next went bikelab and talk to the suspension guru, a very nice guy. He says never rebuilt a scoot fork before. I ask if can use fork oil seal from other bikes like wave, X1 he wasn't sure and also he worry if strip already no spare then it become more worse.

The next one to try is teck thye.
