Weird sound at 60km/h

Any S4 bros experienced a wierd sound coming from yr s4 when u are accelerating pass 60km/h ?

It happened to me whenever on the 4th-6th gear as my bike hits 60km/h.. there'll be this weird rattling sound (like small metal balls hitting each other) coming from the front part of my Spec3.. as my speed goes to above 62km/h.. no more sound liaoz..

though it did not affect my bike's performance.. as yet .. im worried if i keep ignoring it.. the prob might worsen into a a hole driller in my pocket...

 

Any advice is greatly appreciated...

How old is ur bike ?? it might be a ball bearing issue, could double check wif ur bikeshop

Allan bro, my bike is about 18 months old... i also tot of ball bearing but dont understand y 60km/h then got sound.. hmnn..

Yeah tot of going to bikeshop but tot of asking fellow S4 bros got similar encounter anot b4 deciding...

Hi bro, I normally change gear at 4-4.5rpm.. i tink most of the time when 4-5th gear will hit 60km/h... seldom last gear 60km/h.. to be exact later i try to take note of the rpm+speed again when i go out...

I have the similar problem but i brought my bike to Boon Siew for check up and the mech there tell me its normal. Saying i am too sensitive to it.

wat kinna weird sound? Could it be brake pads? Check your pads if you want to. hope you can solve it.

hi arch bro, is yrs the exact same scenario as mine?

 

actually i come to tink of it.. maybe for my case the "weird" sound occurring at 60km/h may happen from gear 1-6 not only gear 4-6.. just that in lower gear my muffer sound was louder as compared to higher gear and it covered the weird sound that is y i cant hear it...

 

If its only Sensitive wise and wont lead to things spoil... i can live wif the sound.. just wana make sure first lor.. tx for reply

The "weird" sound is like the rapid rattling of small metal balls mix wif sparky sparky sound to be exact..

 

Brake pads i just change 2 months back.. the weird sound occurs when i wasnt depressing the brakes... brake pad's squeaking sound i also have.. but i just live with it, imagining i kept a rat in my box lor..

at idling, rev ur bike and check ur pillion foot rest pegs fittings...

Bro, I think i can relate to your story.. Cos i had this prob last time. I really didn't know what was the problem then. Then discovered that it was my IU cover. The cover was loose, and it rattled the bracket.. Waah.. Scare me only..

 

Then it happened again. I learnt my lesson already, so I checked my entire connecting parts. Haha.. This time it was my RXZ fairing. One of the screws rusted so much, that it came loose..

 

Dunno whether it is the same problem as yours, but worth sharing.

 

Moral of the story:- when stationary, rev your bike. See any loose parts rattling. If not, then I dunno. Haha.. Cheers bro. Good luck.

Bro for me, my bike has the rattle "weird" sound once rpm touches 5 regradless of gear its just a very soft rattle sound. It use to bother me very much which is the reason why i sent my bike back to the agent. The mech at Boon Siew has done a check up of the bike even my own bike shop which i always go to say its pretty normal just that i am too sensitive to it. This problem was when i first got my Spec III 3 years ago. Now the problem has

(3 possible reason)

1- Gone away

2- Too use to the sound that i no longer feel it

3- Been to NSH too many times until sound has been run in to prefection

after hearing yr experience.. straight away i tot of my IU holder.. mine is the cheapo type given by BP.. ... not the wielded type.. just a piece of L shape beaten up metal attached to my left mirror.. will go check it out during lunch time.. Tx for sharing..

hahaz ic.. haiz.. bike is just like human.. the older it gets.. the more symptoms will occur..

when happy happy good mood.. > tend to eat alot (fuel )..

when not happy ... > refuse to start (Battery die )

 

Ill go try out see anything loose first, btw bro, just curious how much BSiew charge you for checking yr bike that time? Mine from BS also...

That time when i go to BS for the check its free as its covered for 1 year, only thing i paid for is one stupid plastic screw which cost me fcuking $8 excluding GST

hmmm but you mention its sound from the front wheel izit? hmmm mabbe you wanna show us some of your front wheel photo? could be anything.

or u can try the headlight. mine got this type of sound also then i found out its coming from the headlight. so i just tighten the 2 srcews, ok already.

sound not sure whether its from front wheel anot.. but most probably from the front part of bike when im in riding position..
