OMG , james. I hope you didnt get a divorce. coming from a medical professional --- OUCHHHHHH. and how is the bike?? were you on the DN? i guess your wife loves you more than the boar or DN. she couldnt see you suffer

PS, I hope the boar died. if it did, somebody should have barbecue it and ate it

Most probably the boar was woken up by the sound of the bike and blur blur ran towards the headlights and then... tell you what, how about you ride on the same road at the same time and I get ready to catch the boar when the same thing happens... we can have bbq boar meat after that!....he he he....

Just kidding....

i think the boar must have been attracted by the uniqueness of the dn engine. and was angry at someone riding such sweet sound

to bad it had to be james.

so james, my only advice , you want go riding again there at such ulu place, please ride a Can am. very stable.

heheheh

The only thing unique about the engine is the transmission, the engine came from the Deauville... Buying a new Spyder is rather difficult now, unless you settle for a RS.... The Spyder RS thread shows a buyer wanted the new F3, but I think it is still not approved by LTA yet....

hi guys,

i think the wild boar was chased by maybe another animal, usually i see monkeys and sometimes whole wild boar family crossing the road peacefully, so it was a freak accident….

the bike was quite a mess, repairs cost about 10k and 3 months waiting for the spare parts from japan

i heard from the animal rescue that the wild boar broke both its front legs, poor creature, i don't know whether they killed it afterwards

my medical bills about 10k too, lucky my company paid for it…..

i was actually looking at the yamaha fjr1300 before this accident….. now a bit hesitant to buy a bigger bike

i have just retired and nowadays spend time riding my bike all over he island in search of good hawker food and playing mahjong haha…..

Wah... Retired already, how nice, have time to do the things you like to do... In that case, I suggest you get a Spyder RS, very safe to ride and your wife will definitely not worry...

The model I bought is the touring RT Ltd, $62,000 back in 2013... the RS is the sport model, cost considerably less... you have to enquire about the latest price... that is, if it is still available...

A keen biker I may be but limited by my stature and health... I have always like Gold Wings, but its size has outgrown me, that's why I settled for the Spyder... I also did my own bike maintenance... only went to the shops for changing tires...

but somehow or rather, i think 2 wheels still looks damn cool….hehe

Yes, I still like two wheels and the ability to lean into the turn... but we are not getting any younger... and our legs may not be able to hold the bike upright at the stop lights anymore... what then?... gave up riding?... hope to keep on riding as long as possible... and on bikes that at least give you some kick.... anyway, to each their own....

Yeah... costly, a lot of people says I'm crazy... might as well get a car... well, maybe I am crazy... that's why whenever someone ask me for advice about getting a Spyder, I always ask them to do their research and if you really want and can live with one... PGO?... get the Fouco (not sure about the spelling)...

Fuoco . its either i wait until it drops to $20k in 2018 or ride the fuoco, mp3 or the adiva. being the baby of the 50s group here, i am awaiting 2018

Fuoco... Thanks... actually, by my reckoning, there should be used Spyder RS selling at around $20k now... because the very first RS landed on our shore back in late 2008 or early 2009, if I'm not wrong... the first RT arrived in 2010... so the first batch should worth around this price, more or less... the problem is finding a seller... and hoping that it is in stock condition...

It is good to be young... even for a few years.... the other day, I was taking the MRT and a young chap offered his seat to me, saying "here, uncle...", I thanked him and sat down thinking, "they are calling me uncle now...(sigh...old already)"...

Freaking ouch....

Wild boar on the roads. That's something you wouldn't expect in SG.

Seen a lot of videos of bikers in EU or US running into deers and stuff, but heh, never thought of it here.

And to think I traverse Mandai Road pretty often. That's another place to look out for animals. Have seen tortoises and pangolins at the edge or side of the road at night.

mandai road should be ok as the road is much wider and u have time to react if they charge out,

usually they will be more active in the dead of night when no traffic, so when the the traffic is normal shud be safe, but then again recently one wild boar charged out at SLE

hit a biker too but i think no serious injuries..

can i ask you where you go change tyres for your dn-01? and how much it cost you?

my mileage is almost 18k already….. i think time to change

Posted (edited)

because you are a frank person. i hope james accept a 50kg person as he is the TS . not too sure about the waistline though. i have seen a 50cm waistliner riding a bike but NOT a lady. hmmm . wait a minute. 50cm not too bad . maybe you meant 50inches??

I changed my DN-01 tyres at Sanfu at Autobay... if you go, just tell the boss that another purple DN-01 recommends you... tell him that you are paying cash and he will give you a best price, because for him, no need to pay commission for NETs... I recently changed my front tyre for $160, Metzeler Z8, size is 120/70 R17 because the original size 130/70 is almost impossible to find in SG... mileage 18K?, that means you must have already changed one set already... my original tyres last around 7K to 8K only....
