Need help with a tick tock sound when cold starting my phantom TA200. Don't know if it is my moto chain rubbing against the metal frame. But after running a while the sound will be gone. Thank you.

Have to heard the sound of the tick tock sound first then can tell for sure.

Is the sound like an old diesel taxi engine running? If so, most likely it is the tensioner worn out already.

 

I also changed my tenioner last year too. Mine is a 'FW' plate.

Seems like quite a number of Phantoms are experiencing this around this time, so it probably is the max lifespan of the tensioner thing.

Yup, mine also 'FW' plate. So looks like need to go moto-tiam liao. Maybe, I also tighten the moto-chain again just to be sure altho i just tighten it not too long ago. Thank for the reply!

if after retensioning the chain...and afew days later the chain is loose again..it means chain is kaput..

correct way is to pull a chain linlk at the sprocket..if the link moves by more than 5mm...the chain can be classified as a basket case..
